Seeing her so distraught, several people stepped forward to offer comfort. “Mrs. Madilyn Myers, we understand your grief, but we must face reality. If Charles could see you like this, it would only trouble him.”

“Charles has just regained consciousness. He’ll be fine. Arthur, you believe that too, don’t you? Your grandfather will pull through,” Madilyn cried, reaching out to clutch Arthur’s arm. “Arthur, he loves you more than anyone!”

arrangement.”

The elders stared at Kevin, then exchanged uneasy glances. After a moment of heavy silence, one of them spoke up. “Is that all?”

Kevin closed the folder and shook his head. “That is the entirety of the instructions Charles personally dictated to me. I merely did not anticipate… such a tragic accident would occur so soon afterward.”

A profound quiet fell over the hallway as everyone digested the terms of the will.
