Chapter 544 Back in Silverash

Designer clothes, exclusive watches, custom jewelry–she wasn’t interested in any of it. In the end, she’d picked up a stack of graphic novels from a little shop by the beach, just something to kill time.
Spending all day around Vincent made life feel pretty dull. Comics were as good a way as any to pass the hours.
Vincent had locked himself upstairs to brood. By the time Chloe finished one volume, he finally came down.
He was dressed in his usual style–flowing white linen, like something out of a painting. Too bad he was a monster through and through.
“Master.”
The moment Vincent appeared, the staff nearby rushed over.
He glanced at Chloe, then waved them off coldly. “Everyone out.”
The room emptied fast. The wide living room was left with just Chloe on the couch and Vincent standing there, elegant and still.
“How does it feel to be back?” His voice was quiet.
Chloe looked up at him. It was hard to believe this was the same man who’d been throwing a fit upstairs not long ago.
“It’s fine. Would be better if I didn’t have to see your face every day.” She curled the corner of her mouth.
Vincent’s expression, which had just started to soften, went cold again.
Chloe always knew exactly which buttons to push. One sentence, and the temperature in the room dropped about ten degrees.
It took him a long moment to pull himself together. He walked over and sat across from her.
“Want to watch the wedding stream? I can set you up with a front–row seat–crystal clear, every angle.”
Chloe looked at him for a long beat. Then, flatly, she said, “You know what I’d rather watch? A livestream of Jennifer actually managing to land Eugene. I’m guessing you’re pretty eager to see that too.”
Vincent hadn’t meant to poke at her. But she’d gone there first.
A week had passed. Eugene’s end was quiet. Jennifer was counting down the days.
On the wedding day, they’d say their vows. And then, what happened after–that would take care of itself.
It wouldn’t be long now. Soon enough, she’d see exactly what she needed to see.
The bet? He was going to win.
