Just an awards show. From red carpet to afterparty, it would only take a few hours. All Vincent wanted was to go with her, as her plus-one. Simple enough. Zachary had done the same for her before.

When Oralia heard "friend", she paused, a little surprised. She'd assumed it would be her boyfriend.

"Chloe... do I know this friend?" she asked, curiosity taking over.

Chloe saw the eager look on her face and decided to shut it down playfully. "I thought you were going to help me pick a dress. Are we done talking about that yet?"

Oralia immediately got sidetracked. She looped an arm through Chloe's and launched into a detailed breakdown of gown colors, cuts, and fabrics.

This awards night was a huge deal for Oralia. Chloe would be there—along with plenty of other loved ones.

"From the Master," he said respectfully. "For Ms. Larson. He wishes her the very best of luck in bringing home the Best Actress award."
