He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 141

The words hit like a hammer, smashing violently against Caspian's chest and shattering all his stubbornness and carefully constructed facades in an instant.

He fell silent, offering no rebuttal, and simply chain-smoked, lighting one cigarette off the end of another.

Amidst the swirling haze of smoke, his shoulders slightly slumped. The obstinate coldness in his brow was gradually replaced by profound agony and guilt.

Seraphina continued, "Did you really think that by pushing Stella away, your creditors would just let her off the hook? Pierce left the country ages ago, abandoning me in that villa without a backward glance—did those people spare me?"

"When people want revenge, they don't care if you've broken up or not. They only care about venting their rage," she added, her voice dropping a fraction. "Just like how you treated me before."

"If you actually want to protect her, you should tell her everything. Let her know she might be in danger so she can keep her guard up. Not leave her drowning in misery, completely oblivious to the threats lurking around her."

A long time passed before Caspian finally crushed out his cigarette. When he looked up, the torment in his eyes was still palpable, but there was a new sense of clarity and determination.

His voice was raw and exhausted, tinged with heavy guilt. "...Fine. I'll go talk to her."

Seeing him finally cave, Seraphina simply nodded, her expression entirely unreadable. Her tone returned to its usual calm. "Good."

The two of them walked out of the study together.

As they passed Stella, Seraphina gently patted the other woman's shoulder, offering a soft word of comfort. "Stella, you two need to have a proper talk. I'll head upstairs."

Choking on a sob, Stella nodded. Tears were still streaming down her face, but she seemed slightly calmer than before.
