He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 145

Pierce took a deep breath, fighting to force down the volatile emotions churning inside him, and closed his eyes.

It was as if he were ruminating on an agonizing pain he had kept buried deep within for a very long time, unable to calm himself.

"Forget it," he finally said, his voice cold. "In the end, I could never match your ruthlessness. I guess whoever falls harder is always the one constantly terrified of losing you. You didn't care, so obviously it was easy for you to walk away. I just can't understand why it wasn't Silas Sterling, but some street thug instead?"

Seraphina frowned in confusion. "What does Silas have to do with this?"

Pierce offered a bitter smile. He leaned down slightly, resting his forehead against hers, and spoke in a tone that sounded like a desperate plea. "Whether it was Silas or that punk, I don't care anymore. I can let it go. I can even forget it ever happened. Let's just go back to the way we were, okay?"

She shoved at him with all her might. "Let go of me! We are over..."

"We're not! If I say we're not over, then we're not!"

He leaned in, ignoring her thrashing and her curses, and forcefully captured her lips. The kiss was aggressive and frantic, carrying a punitive edge, yet layered with three years of painfully suppressed longing and desperation.

Seraphina fought tooth and nail, turning her head to dodge him, but he locked a firm grip on the back of her neck, leaving her absolutely no room to escape.

It wasn't until she was utterly drained, gasping for air, that he finally slowed his pace—though he still refused to let her go.

His movements were tinged with a manic urgency, as if he were trying to violently expel all the yearning and regret of the past three years at once. He held onto her as if she were a priceless treasure he had lost and miraculously found again.

It had been so long since Seraphina had experienced this kind of intimacy, and her body involuntarily trembled.

A wave of unfamiliar pain and panic surged from the depths of her heart, yet she forced herself to stay lucid, refusing to show a shred of weakness.

Only when every ounce of her strength was depleted and she could no longer fight back did she slowly close her eyes. But the icy detachment in her gaze never faded.

She had no idea how much time passed before things finally settled into quiet.

Pierce held her exhausted frame, resting his chin on the top of her head, his breathing still somewhat erratic.
