She refused to back down, still thrashing wildly as she tried to shove the car door open and escape, cursing him the entire time. "Pierce, what the hell are you doing?! Are you insane?!"
He slid into the car behind her, completely blocking her only exit.
In the dim light of the night, his eyes blazed with a terrifying, fiery intensity.
"What am I doing?" he scoffed, his tone dripping with obsessive madness, though his eyes were brimming with pure agony. "My wife is at another man's house in the middle of the night, and you're asking what I'm doing?!"
"You pulled a fire alarm just to trick me into coming outside? You're despicable! Mmph—"
Pierce didn't waste another word. He simply crushed his mouth against hers, effectively silencing her.
Trapped in the cramped backseat, she had nowhere to hide. Several times she managed to shove him away and lunge for the door handle, only for him to drag her right back into his arms.
Seraphina's strength was rapidly depleting as they wrestled.
She knew perfectly well that she couldn't outmuscle a man like Pierce. Fighting him head-on was a losing battle.
Waiting for the perfect opening, she viciously drove her knee upward, slamming it directly into his groin.
—It was a self-defense move she had practiced so much over the years that it was pure muscle memory, executed on pure instinct.
"Ugh..."
Caught completely off guard, Pierce groaned in pain, the color draining from his face.
He stared at her, a volatile mix of fury and faint, unexpected betrayal in his voice. "You actually hit me? Seraphina, you actually dared to hit me?"
