The van rumbled to life, leaving the alley and heading toward an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city.
Along the way, Steve struggled desperately, but the men pinned him down so hard he couldn't move an inch.
Who knows how much time passed before the van finally skidded to a halt.
Steve was hauled out and dragged straight into the decrepit warehouse.
It was pitch-black inside, save for a single dim overhead light that cast a weak glow, illuminating a small area in the center.
A man yanked the hood off. Steve squinted, struggling to adjust to the light.
In the middle of the warehouse, Pierce sat in a chair, practically exuding frost. His face was horrifyingly dark, the pure bloodlust in his eyes looking as if it would swallow Steve whole.
Felix stood by Pierce's side, his expression icy and his gaze vigilant.
Felix stepped closer to Pierce, gave a slight bow, and reported respectfully, "Mr. Prescott, we've brought him."
Pierce slowly looked up, his gaze landing on Steve. His voice was bone-chillingly cold, entirely devoid of warmth as he asked deliberately, "Are you Steve?"
Steve was trembling from head to toe, yet he forced himself to act tough. His eyes darting around, he shot back, "And... who are you?! Why did you grab me? I'll have you know I know Mrs. Prescott! She's my lover! If you lay a finger on me, she won't let you get away with it!"
Pierce sneered, his voice dripping with mockery and murderous rage. "Who am I? I am exactly who you just mentioned—Mrs. Prescott's husband, Pierce Prescott."
