He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 161

As if to prove his point, Steve tilted his head, exposing the jagged scar on his neck for Pierce to see.

Pierce stared at the words written on the cash, his expression growing darker by the second. The murderous intent in his eyes threatened to swallow the entire warehouse.

He had always assumed Steve breaking into the villa and hurting Seraphina was a random act of violence. He never imagined someone had deliberately hired him!

He planted his foot heavily on Steve’s chest. Steve screamed in agony, grabbing onto his leg and whimpering as he begged for mercy.

"Who paid you?"

Steve sobbed, shaking his head frantically.

"Look into it!" Pierce’s voice was ice-cold and unwavering as he snapped an order at Felix. "Check Steve’s bank transaction history immediately."

"Yes, Mr. Prescott. I'll get right on it!"

Not daring to delay for a second, Felix pulled out his phone and instructed his men to trace Steve's financial records.

Steve lay on the ground, his body convulsing in pain. Staring into Pierce's lifeless eyes, he was consumed by terror.

He knew he was completely finished this time.

Without sparing him another glance, Pierce stood up and ordered his men in black, "Keep a close eye on him. Don't let him die."

"Yes, Mr. Prescott!" a guard replied respectfully, pinning Steve down to keep him from moving.

Pierce turned and headed toward the warehouse exit, with Felix following closely behind.

Just as they reached the door, Pierce’s phone rang. It was a maid from the apartment.

He answered, the lethal aura around him dimming slightly. "What is it?"

The maid’s respectful voice came through the line. "Mr. Prescott, everything is fine. Ms. Somerset just took her antidepressants and sleeping pills. She’s fast asleep now."

Hearing this, the rage and bloodlust in Pierce's heart subsided a little. "Good," he said in a low voice. "Take good care of her. Call me the moment anything happens."
