He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 162

In her sleep, Seraphina seemed to sense the warmth and shifted slightly.

"It's me," he whispered. "Seraphina, I'm home."

She remained asleep, but a single tear slipped from the corner of her eye.

Pierce held her even tighter, murmuring softly, "I'm back. You've... suffered so much these past three years. I'm sorry."

Seraphina began to cry harder, her shoulders trembling with quiet sobs.

Subconsciously, she nestled deeper into his embrace, her furrowed brows slowly relaxing.

His arms felt as though they were tailor-made for her; when she leaned in, they fit perfectly together.

"Go to sleep," Pierce said, pressing a kiss to her hair. "You don't need to keep a scalpel under your pillow anymore. I'm home. I'll protect you."

After an unknown amount of time, her breathing grew shallow and even.

The screen of his phone on the nightstand lit up. It was a call from Felix.

He gently released her and stepped out onto the balcony.

"Hello?"

Felix reported respectfully, "Mr. Prescott, I found out. The person who transferred the money to Steve... is Alaric Sawyer."

"Alaric Sawyer?"

Pierce was all too familiar with that name.

Seraphina's uncle-by-marriage.

An elder she had once respected as a father figure.

His company was currently relying on Prescott Holdings just to stay afloat. Why would he target Seraphina?

"Mr. Prescott, I also discovered that Alaric seems to be liquidating his assets. He poured all his cash into stocks and drained his company’s cash flow. The business is struggling severely right now. At this rate, he'll definitely be forced into bankruptcy and auctioned off, likely taking on massive debts."

Pierce suddenly remembered the time Sienna had stormed into their home, throwing a tantrum.

Perhaps it was related to this.

Massaging his temples, Pierce ordered, "Keep a close eye on Alaric's movements for now. Don't tip him off."
