Felicity's eyes lit up instantly, the anger in her tone rapidly replaced by sheer excitement. "Really? Are you telling the truth? Seraphina really doesn't have a phone or any way to contact the outside world?"
"It's true. I was just outside their bedroom. Even though I couldn't hear who she was calling, I'm absolutely certain she was using Elara's phone."
Alaric quickly added, "Plus, Pierce Prescott was watching her like a hawk. It honestly feels like their relationship is damaged beyond repair."
"Perfect! This is wonderful!" Felicity exclaimed with glee. "Alaric, I suppose you are somewhat useful after all. I'll let you off the hook for now. Keep a close eye on Seraphina and Pierce, and report any updates to me immediately!"
"Got it," Alaric agreed quickly, breathing a silent sigh of relief that she wasn't going to punish him further.
But on second thought, he asked with difficulty, "Felicity, murder is a serious crime. I want to live a good life with you and raise our son. Can you please not make me try to kill Seraphina again? If I get caught, my life is over."
Felicity scoffed with utter disdain. "Older guys really are pathetic. You don't even have the spine to kill someone? You have zero masculinity."
"What does this have to do with being a man? Murder is illegal!"
"I don't care. I just want Seraphina dead. Alaric, you took my best years, and now I have to push out your ugly kid. I'm sacrificing this much to stand up for Lyra. If you can't get this done, then I'm sorry, but I'll abort this kid and mail you the remains."
"Don't, don't..." Alaric closed his eyes wearily. "Can you please not be so impulsive?"
Felicity's voice turned to ice. "Let me tell you, I'm out of patience. Wait for my call. If you screw it up next time, be prepared to collect your son's corpse!"
With that, Felicity hung up immediately.
