He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 197

Barnaby's throat tightened; he couldn't manage a single word of comfort.

Having served the Prescott family for decades, he knew better than anyone how desperately the old man had longed for this child.

Pierce was the only grandson, and his heart was entirely set on Seraphina, but Alistair despised the girl.

Barnaby, on the other hand, was rather fond of Seraphina.

She appeared refined and well-spoken, completely contradictory to the scandalous rumors that painted her as wild or involved with her stepfather.

He glanced back. "Young Master."

Pierce nodded. "Barnaby."

Barnaby offered a word of advice, "The old man's blood pressure has been a bit high lately. Please be mindful of how you speak to him."

Pierce hesitated for a few seconds before nodding. "Alright."

Once through the main doors, Barnaby helped Alistair sit down on the sofa.

Pierce didn't speak immediately. He just stood quietly in the foyer, his voice deep and composed. "Grandpa, get some good rest. I'm leaving."

Alistair looked up and glared at him fiercely. "You still have the nerve to call me Grandpa? If it weren't for you protecting Seraphina time and time again, if it weren't for your indulgence, do you think Lyra would have lost the baby?"
