He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 95

Seeing Alistair's face turn purple with rage, Lyra immediately stepped in to play the peacemaker. "Okay, Pierce, please stop talking! He's elderly. You already put him in the hospital once over Seraphina. Are you really going to do it again?!"

Pierce's phone finally stopped ringing, the screen going dark.

A missed call notification flashed on the display.

Lyra stared at the phone. "Who is calling you this late?"

"Who else?!" Alistair clutched his chest, gasping. "It's that manipulative bitch, Seraphina! And he keeps falling right into her traps! He's going to be the death of me!"

Before the words fully left his mouth, the phone erupted into rings again.

Pierce glanced at the screen. It was the exact same unknown number.

It wasn't a wrong number. Whoever it was, they were desperate to reach him.

He never gave his private number out. The only people who had it were his grandfather, Lyra, his executive assistant, and Seraphina.

His grandfather and Lyra were standing right in front of him. His assistant would never call from an unknown number.

It had to be Seraphina.

Lyra frantically rubbed Alistair's back, acting like the perfect, devoted daughter as she turned to Pierce. "Don't answer it. Look how upset he is! What if he has another attack? Just give in for tonight. You can call her or go see her first thing tomorrow morning. I'll make sure he doesn't stop you."

"Thank you, Lyra."

"You don't need to thank me. Just come over here, apologize, and say something nice to him. I'll back you up..."

"Lyra, please calm him down for me," Pierce interrupted coldly. "I have to take this call."

Without another word, he hit the accept button and strode violently toward the front doors.

"Hello?"

Lyra instinctively moved to follow him, desperate to hear who was on the other end, but Alistair barked at her to stop. "Lyra, come back! Let him go! He's already ruined his life over her once. If he wants to destroy himself a second time, no one can save him."

Jealousy and panic clawed at Lyra's chest. She bit her lip until it nearly bled, but forced herself to step back.
