Slim took two steps back. "Buck, he wants to see her."
Buck gritted his teeth, his gaze darting suspiciously behind the newcomer.
"Relax, I came alone," Pierce stated. "Hand her over safely, and you'll get every single cent."
While Buck hesitated, Pierce started advancing toward them.
He was tall and powerfully built, radiating absolute dominance. Buck might have been heavily set, but he was more than a head shorter. As Pierce's shadow loomed over him like dark clouds blotting out the sun, the suffocating pressure made Buck's nerves spike.
His hand shook violently as he held the blade against Seraphina's cheek. "Stop right there! I said freeze, you hear me?!"
Pierce completely ignored the command.
He stepped closer, finally seeing Seraphina. Her hands were brutally bound to the steering wheel.
Blood poured continuously from the wound on her neck, soaking her blouse until it clung to her skin in a sticky, horrifying mess.
The vibrant red of her blood stood in stark, devastating contrast to her deathly pale, luminous skin.
Realizing the knife to her face wasn't stopping the billionaire, Buck snarled and shifted the tip of the blade directly toward the open wound on her neck.
The sharp steel caught the moonlight, gleaming with a deadly chill. "Pierce! Take one more step and I'll end her right now!"
Pierce halted.
But his expression was nothing but pure, predatory annoyance.
"Do it. Kill her, and you'll pay with your own life. If you think that's a fair trade, go right ahead."
Buck barked aggressively, "Where's the money? Transfer it now!"
"Who hired you to take her?"
"I asked for the cash! Are you deaf?"
"Give me the name of your boss, and I'll double the payout."
That single sentence managed to cut through Buck's panicked adrenaline.
Double.
