Chapter 6
The housekeeper was frantic, calling Felix over and over, but the calls went unanswered.
Stella struggled to open her heavy eyelids, her voice hoarse and faint. “Stop calling… He won’t pick up.”
She managed a smile that was uglier than crying. “He’s… celebrating Hazel’s birthday right now.”
The housekeeper sighed and said no more, just quietly fetched the fever reducer and carefully helped Stella take it.
After taking the medicine, Stella drifted into a groggy sleep, only to be jolted awake that evening by the sound of a door being thrown open violently.
Felix burst in, reeking of alcohol and the cold from outside, his face terrifyingly dark.

“Stella!” He strode to the bedside and grabbed her wrist, his grip so tight it felt like it would shatter her bones. “Why didn’t you come? Hazel waited for you all night! She cried her eyes out! I can’t even stand to see her shed a single tear, and you dare to make her this upset!”
He shook her so hard her head spun. The numb, frozen wasteland of her heart seemed to crack open at his words, a sharp pain lancing through.
There was a time when he couldn’t stand to see her shed a single tear, either.
She lifted her heavy eyelids and looked at the face before her–a face she had once loved to the bone, but which was now terrifyingly unfamiliar. It all felt so absurd.
“So what?” Her voice was raspy from the fever, but held a dead, calm finality. “Are you going to kill me?”
Felix sneered. “No. Since you made her cry, you’re going to cry your heart out too.”
He took out his phone and made a call. “Get Stella’s best friend, her colleagues, her cousin, everyone she knows, over here. Whoever can make Stella cry gets a hundred million dollars.”
Half an hour later, the villa was crowded with people.
The first to step forward was Stella’s best friend, Olivia. They used to go shopping together, share secrets, and comfort each other through hard times.
“Stella, just cry.” Olivia’s voice was trembling. “A hundred million, that’s enough for me to live on for several lifetimes.”

Chapter 6
“Burn it.” He heard his own cold voice, laced with a cruelty he didn’t even recognize in himself.
Given the command, the cousin no longer hesitated and threw the burning frame onto the floor!
“NO!!!”
Stella let out a piercing, agonized scream, throwing herself to the ground and trying to beat out the flames with her bare hands, desperate to save the image that was turning to ash.
But it was too late.
The photo quickly curled and blackened in the fire. Her parents‘ gentle smiles vanished before her eyes, until all that was left was a small pile of ashes.
Her outstretched hand grabbed only a handful of hot ash and searing pain.
The tears she had held back for so long finally burst forth like a broken dam.
She cried.
