He Gave Her Strawberries, Gave Me Hives (Ford and Sylvia) novel Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Sylvia stopped in her tracks, waved her colleagues ahead to the restaurant, and turned to look at Ford calmly. Mr. Holloway, is there

something we didn’t cover in the meeting?

Her tone was polite, distant, and cold.

A sharp pain stabbed Ford’s chest out of nowhere.

For the past two weeks, no matter how many numbers he used to call her, she blocked them all.

He had tried to add her on social media over a hundred times, but she never accepted.

Every message he sent disappeared into the void, unanswered.

He had imagined that seeing him would make her angry, furious, resentful. He thought she might scream at him, or maybe even

collapse into his arms, sobbing and blaming him.

But nothing he hoped for, and nothing he feared, actually happened.

She just stood there, completely calm, treating him like a stranger.

People were bustling in and out of the office building.

Sylvia and Ford were a striking pair, and colleagues passing by couldn’t help but stare.

Ford stared at her intently. Sylvia, can we talk?

sylvia looked up, meeting his gaze evenly. Mr. Holloway, if it’s business, I can call Mr. Kingsley and we can all discuss it together.

If it’s personal, I don’t think there’s anything left to say.

Ford clenched his fists at his sides, his voice tinged with pleading. Just give me one dinner. That’s all I ask.

you don’t want our personal issues to mess up the partnership between our companies, right?

knew this would upset her.

But he also knew how she operated.

mpatience flashed in Sylvia’s eyes, but eventually, she nodded and walked toward the exit.

Sylvia picked a quiet restaurant at random.

Alone with him, her expression grew even colder. Spit it out. What do you want?

Ford looked at her, his voice rough with emotion. Sylvia, the moment I found out where you were, I panicked. I wanted to fly here immediately to explain everything to you.

But a crisis hit the company. It took me two weeks to fix it. That’s why I’m late,

Sylvia’s fingers tightened around her water glass, a mocking smile curling her lips.

You don’t actually thinkI’ve been waiting around for your explanation, do you?

She let out a soft laugh.

You’re mistaken, Ford. No one waits forever.

Back when she loved him, she would wait, no matter how hurt or angry she was.

But now that she didn’t love him, when he showed upor whydidn’t matter to her at all.

Ford’s face turned deathly pale in an instant.

His voice trembled. Sylvia, II’ve thought about a lot these past two weeks. About everything that’s happened between us over the

years.

I know Lyla did a lot of terrible things behind my back. I punished her, Sylvia. I fired her. She’s gone. You’ll never see her again.

And I know it wasn’t just her. It was meI lost myself. I didn’t cherish you. I became her accomplice, helping her bully you. That’s why you were disappointed. That’s why you left.

Sylvia gripped the glass tighter, her knuckles turning white.

Memories flooded back, and her eyes reddened slightly.

Even after all this time, the pain and injustice hadn’t fully faded.
