He Gave Her Strawberries, Gave Me Hives (Ford and Sylvia) novel Chapter 174

Chapter 5

The paramedic seemed to protest, But this young lady looks more seriously injured

I said take her first!Theodore cut him off sharply, his tone anxious and decisive. She just had a miscarriage! Her body is weak, she can’t handle any more complications!

The paramedic didn’t dare say more and quickly, with the nurse’s help, lifted Marenwho only had some scrapes and was shaken up, but otherwise fineonto

the stretcher.

Without a single glance at Evelyn lying in a pool of blood, her breathing faint, Theodore followed them into the ambulance. The moment the doors closed, Evelyn saw him tightly gripping Maren’s hand, whispering words of comfort.

Then, with its siren wailing, the ambulance sped away.

Evelyn lay alone in a pool of her own blood, the physical pain nothing compared to the despair of a dead heart.

Coldness and darkness washed over her like a tidal wave.

Her last shred of consciousness completely dissipated into the endless chill.

When Evelyn woke up again, she found herself in the hospital.

Every part of her body was screaming in pain, but even clearer was the sound of Snowball’s shrill, helpless barks as the bodyguard had carried him away.

Snowball! Her Snowball!

An intense panic seized her. Ignoring the tearing pain throughout her body, she tried to sit up abruptly, wanting to get out of bed to find him.

What do you think you’re doing!

The door to her room was pushed open and Theodore walked in, just in time to see her reckless movement. His face darkened as he strode forward, grabbing her thin shoulder with such force that she immediately fell back onto the bed, pulling at her wounds and causing her vision to go black with pain.

Let go of me! I have to find Snowball!Evelyn struggled, her voice hoarse and choked with sobs.

Theodore’s brow furrowed, his tone unyieldingly harsh. Don’t even think about it! That dog has been sent away. You’re never going to find him.

He looked down at her, his eyes devoid of sympathy, filled only with an icy indifference. I’m warning you, Evelyn. If you make another scene over that dog. I won’t hesitate to send it straight to a slaughterhouse.

A slaughterhouse

Those words were like poisondipped ice picks, stabbing viciously into Evelyn’s heart.

She looked in disbelief at the man before her, the same man who had given her Snowball as a gift, saying he hoped the little creature would keep her company and bring her joy.

Theodoreher voice trembled uncontrollably, laced with a desperate sob, do you have tobe this cruel to me?

Theodore avoided her tearfilled gaze, his tone harsh and tinged with an anxiety he himself didn’t notice. I have no choice! Evelyn, you already caused Maren o lose one child! What if she goes to your place again and gets scared by that dog, and something else happens? Who’s going to take responsibility?

Evelyn stared at him for a long, long time, as if trying to see through his deep eyes to find out how much of his former affection remained

Finally, she forced a smile that was uglier than a grimace, her voice as soft as a sigh, but every word was crystal clear. Why don’t you just say it. Theodore? The truth is you’ve already fallen in love with Maren, so you can’t stand to see her even the slightest bit scared or wronged.

Theodore’s expression changed instantly, as if his deepest secret had been exposed. A flicker of panic crossed his eyes but was quickly replaced by irritation.
