Afraid of upsetting Scarlett further, Talia ultimately decided not to mention that Yardley hadn't even replied to her text.
Yardley remained nowhere to be seen up until Scarlett was discharged from the hospital. Afterward, the two of them, along with baby Dawn and Zara, moved into The Grandview—a fully furnished apartment Scarlett had purchased half a year ago.
Talia lived right across the hall. Buying apartments next to each other had been their dream since college.
So, when Scarlett heard the unit across from Talia was up for sale six months ago, she bought it without hesitation.
The apartment came with all the necessary furniture and appliances, though it felt a bit empty. Talia quickly brought over bedding, a kettle, and other daily necessities from her own place.
Scarlett made a list for Zara to go grocery shopping and then booked a moving service to bring over all the baby supplies she had originally prepared at Orchard Villa.
The sky had gone completely dark.
It was only then that Yardley finally called.
Staring at the word "Husband" on her screen, Scarlett didn't hesitate to hang up, delete his contact, and block his number.
Not long after, Talia's phone rang.
She answered it with biting sarcasm. "So the almighty Mr. Flynn, buried in his daily affairs, has finally remembered his one-month-old daughter and his wife who just finished her postpartum recovery?"
"Talia, put Scarlett on." Yardley's tone remained as calm as ever, carrying a businesslike detachment.
He had just returned home, carrying clothes and toys he had specifically bought for his daughter.
He expected a warm dinner waiting for him, but instead, he walked in to find charred marble pillars in the yard and ashes scattered everywhere. The living room and bedroom were a disaster zone, looking like they had been ransacked.
Fury simmered in Yardley's chest—Scarlett had made a genuinely horrific mess!
