He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 294

The wilds campsite was tucked away in a secluded area near the embankments of Bay City's City Canal. It sat in a flat basin, surrounded by lush trees that opened up into a massive grassy clearing in the center.

At night, a large bonfire roared in the middle of the field, and string lights were draped through the branches.

Chatwin had booked the prime spot well in advance—a massive umbrella tent right in the center.

When they arrived, the outdoor setup was immaculate. The table was loaded with skewers, fruit platters, drinks, draft beer, and an array of snacks. It was a feast.

Once they sat down, Chatwin called over a staff member dedicated to grilling their food.

Caught up in the vibrant atmosphere and energized by the upbeat dance music playing over the speakers, Talia eagerly stepped to the front of the tent.

"Ladies and gentlemen, to thank our generous host for tonight's feast, I shall offer a humble dance to kick things off! But fair warning—everyone has to perform something later!"

Chatwin clapped and cheered. "Love the energy!"

Scarlett, however, was sweating bullets. Talia was totally setting her up. The last time she had performed anything was singing on stage back in college. It had been years since she'd done anything like this in public.

Talia, carefree as ever, casually tossed her flannel shirt at Scarlett and immediately started dancing, her hips swaying to the heavy beat.

Since the setup was entirely open-air, her performance instantly drew cheers and whistles from the surrounding crowds.

In a nearby tent, a woman looked over with dark, brooding eyes. A moment later, she pulled out her phone, recorded a video of Scarlett's group, and hit send.

Sylvia Stetson received the video from her friend while sitting in a hospital room.

Yardley's fever had refused to break, and he'd been on an IV drip for days. She had stayed by his side the entire time, her eyes red from crying.
