He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 316

Madeleine always believed that brilliant women were often slowed down by domestic obligations once they married. But she was relieved that Scarlett had never truly abandoned her passion for architecture.

"Oh, I'm perfectly fine," Madeleine chuckled. "It was just a minor scrape. I've already been traveling the country again. I only told the family I was at a wellness retreat so they wouldn't hover. Good thing you didn't visit, or you would have found an empty room! Anyway, meet me at the City Bureau of Cultural Heritage tomorrow at 2 PM. I really need your eyes on this."

"You've got it. See you tomorrow," Scarlett agreed without hesitation.

Hanging up, she thought back to the incident at the old quarter. She had managed to get those broken teacups repaired by a professional, but they obviously weren't flawless anymore. She had been meaning to explain the situation to Madeleine but wasn't sure how to bring it up, considering her entire dynamic with Julian was complicated and recent.

The next day at 2 PM, Scarlett arrived at the Bureau, only to freeze in her tracks.

Julian and Madeleine were standing together near the entrance.

Madeleine looked exactly as Scarlett remembered—the quintessential elegant academic. Her silver hair was pinned back immaculately, and she wore a timeless white blouse and black slacks. She stood tall and straight, radiating vitality like an evergreen pine.

Julian was dressed sharply in a light gray polo and khaki trousers. Despite the fading bruises on his face, he still exuded that effortless, refined elegance.

The two had left Croft Design Studio separately, both claiming they had errands to run. Neither expected to bump into the other here.

All three of them stared at each other in surprise.

Julian was the first to speak, a brilliant smile breaking across his face. "Wait... so the brilliant 'Zephyr'—the architectural prodigy my grandmother is always raving about—is *you*?"
