He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 319

Scarlett froze, her brain entirely short-circuiting for three solid seconds before she found her voice.

"W-what? Julian, you and the Director are...?"

Julian flashed a cryptic smile and casually slung an arm around Dominic's shoulders. He introduced him with the breezy tone of someone presenting an old drinking buddy.

"Let's do the official intro. Dominic Croft: Director of the Cultural Heritage Bureau, heritage architecture expert, antique collector, calligrapher... oh, right, and the shadow majority shareholder of Perennial Holdings. And last but not least—my dad."

He rattled off half a dozen prestigious titles without taking a breath, leaving Scarlett completely dizzy. But that final "my dad" dropped like a bomb. She couldn't believe her ears.

"You little punk! Why are you spouting all that nonsense in front of Master Zephyr? You're embarrassing me!" Dominic scowled playfully and smacked the back of Julian's head.

Julian ducked with lightning speed, dramatically grabbing his head. "Hey, old man, watch it! Don't hit the head, you'll damage the merchandise."

Dominic glared and took a swing at Julian's arm. "Where are your manners? Acting like a fool in front of a master! Clearly, I need to teach you some respect."

Julian dodged smoothly, slipping under his father's arm, catching his wrist, and using Dominic's own momentum to expertly sweep the older man off balance. In one fluid motion, the esteemed Director was gently deposited onto the floor.

Scarlett's jaw hit the pavement. Were they father and son, or mortal enemies? Was this actually how they interacted?

Julian rubbed his nose smugly, a boyish, arrogant grin on his face. "Admit it, old man, you're out of your league. Trying to take me down? If my arm wasn't bruised, you would have hit the deck a lot harder."
