He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 8

"The patient is severely depleted from giving birth. Combine that with her previous severe hemorrhage, and she's highly susceptible to fainting from low blood sugar. You must ensure she gets proper nutrition and absolutely avoid any intense emotional distress."

After the examination, with Scarlett still unconscious, the doctor relayed the instructions to Talia in the hospital room.

Zara sighed from the sidelines. "Ma'am didn't get to rest properly during her postpartum recovery period either. The first half of the month, her engorgement was so painful she barely ate. The second half, the baby had indigestion and cried all night, but she insisted on breastfeeding. She hasn't slept through the night once, and she still had to work during the day. Her body never had the chance to recover."

Hearing this, Talia was so furious she practically saw red.

She frantically called Yardley's phone, but it went unanswered. Left with no choice, she snapped a photo of Scarlett lying in the hospital bed and texted it to him with a caption:

[Yardley Flynn, you have twenty minutes to get here. Otherwise, I will personally convince your wife to divorce you!]

But Yardley seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth, leaving no reply.

Talia looked at the frail Scarlett in the bed, choking up as tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

Back in college, everyone agreed that Scarlett had made the best match out of all their classmates.

Her husband, Yardley, was five years older and her company's big boss. When they suddenly announced their marriage five years ago, it shocked everyone.

Scarlett, who had always sported short hair and rarely dressed up, had somehow managed to join the Flynn family, a top-tier wealthy dynasty. It was truly unexpected.

Outsiders assumed Scarlett was living a life of luxury, surrounded by servants. Only Talia knew that over the past five years, Scarlett had been ruthlessly overworked by Yardley and constantly treated with cold indifference by her in-laws, suffering in silence.

She thought getting pregnant and having a baby would finally turn things around.

Yet, looking at her current situation, this was far from a wealthy family's fairy tale. Even a regular family would show more care for a newborn.
