After leaving the private room, Wynette drove straight back to the condominium she owned.

It was close to 10:00 p.m. when Noah called her over and over again.

She simply muted her phone and tossed it aside, letting it ring until the calls stopped.

Knowing Noah’s personality, she figured he wouldn’t keep trying for long.

Sure enough, after the third call went unanswered, he finally gave up.

A moment later, her phone rang again.

This time it was Kaylee.

Even though Wynette didn’t want to talk, she still picked up. “Mom.”

Kaylee’s voice came through the line. “Where are you? Why aren’t you answering Noah’s calls?

“Wynette, he has already lowered himself and tried to make peace. Can’t understanding and give him another chance?”

Kaylee sighed, her tone full of helplessness.

She honestly didn’t know how to deal with the problems between Wynette and Noah

anymore.

She knew her daughter’s personality well. The harder she pushed, the more Wynette would push back.

Wynette pressed a hand against her aching temple. “Mom, I’m already an adult. I can handle my own problems.”

She had expected Kaylee to get angry like before.

She was already prepared to endure another round of scolding.

But the anger she expected never came.

Kaylee only said evenly, “If you insist, I won’t say anything more. But Wynette, avoiding things won’t solve anything.

“Even if you really want to break things off with Noah, you should tell him and his family clearly. Our two families should still sit down and talk.”

After all, it was a matter between two families. Over the years, the two families had become tied together through business.

It wasn’t something Wynette could simply end with a few words.

Kaylee believed Wynette understood that.

Her mother’s sudden compromise felt strange to Wynette.

Was her mother actually giving in?

After a moment of thought, she replied, “I know. I’ll talk to Noah and make things clear.”

Kaylee didn’t say anything else after that. She only gave a few reminders before ending the call.

Less than two minutes after the call ended, Noah called again.

Wynette didn’t even need to think about it. Kaylee must have called him right after speaking with her.

Her first instinct was to reject the call, but Kaylee’s words from earlier echoed in her mind.

After hesitating for a moment, Wynette finally answered.

Noah’s deep voice came through the phone. “Where are you? Why didn’t you come back to the condominium?”

So he was already back at the condominium.

Strangely enough, it was the first time Noah had ever noticed she wasn’t there.

Wynette answered, “I went back to my-”

She had almost said she went back to the Jewell residence.

But the words stopped halfway.

Since Noah had just spoken with Kaylee, he probably already knew she wasn’t there.

If she said she was at home, the lie would be obvious.

After thinking for a moment, Wynette changed her answer. “I went back to my own place.”

Noah could hear the coldness in her voice. After a long silence, he asked, “Is it because of Lorelei?”

Before Wynette could respond, he explained gently, “Wynette, I already told Lorelei to leave. If you don’t like her coming over, I’ll be more careful in the future.”

Wynette understood exactly what he meant.

What surprised her was that Noah should’ve been furious after she had refused to take the steps he offered several times.

But he was still patiently trying to talk things through with her.

That would have been impossible in the past.

“Wynette,” Noah called when she didn’t respond.

She let out a self-mocking laugh. “Noah, whatever you and Lorelei do has nothing to do with me anymore.”

Did he really think she didn’t know? It was true that Lorelei was no longer staying in that condominium, but that didn’t really change anything.

Just a moment ago, Lorelei had sent Wynette a provocative message.

Noah had bought her a condominium upstairs in the same building-one with the same layout.

He had even paid triple the price to buy out the neighbor’s unit just to make space.

Wynette expressionlessly exited the message, her eyes turning cold.

Noah hadn’t expected that Wynette would still keep giving him the cold shoulder after he had already lowered himself that much.

His expression darkened immediately, and he spoke through clenched restraint, “I’m coming to see you.”

“No need,” Wynette refused without hesitation.

But Noah insisted. “Wait for me.”

Before she could refuse, he had already hung up.

Wynette stared at the ended call, her face darkening as she recalled what he had said.

To be honest, she didn’t want to have any contact with Noah right now.

Things had reached this point. There was nothing left for them to discuss.

Besides, she owned several properties. She didn’t believe Noah could find her that easily.

But she had still underestimated him.

In less than an hour, Noah appeared at her door.

He looked slightly travel-worn, holding a bouquet of bright red roses. Wynette felt nothing.

She had no intention of opening the door, but Noah kept ringing the doorbell and then started knocking.

Although Wynette lived in a high-end neighborhood, the noise he made would definitely disturb the neighbors at night.

Finally, she opened the door. Looking at the man standing outside, she asked coldly, “What do you want?”

Noah immediately pushed the bouquet into her arms. “Still mad? I’m here to apologize.

“About the marriage registration—I was wrong. I bought your favorite roses to make it up to you. Please forgive me.”

Wynette glanced down at the bright bouquet in her arms, feeling a wave of irony.

Noah must have forgotten that the flower she hated most was roses. Especially red roses.

The one who loved red roses was Lorelei!

He continued, “Wynette, I never meant to break up with you. What I said before was just said in anger.
