Chapter 13 You Really Are Something

Noah had no idea what Wynette was actually thinking.

In other words, she had no intention of going back with him.

Noah frowned slightly and was about to say something.

Just then, his phone rang.

The special ringtone he had set for Lorelei abruptly interrupted him.

Right in front of Wynette, Noah declined the call.

That was something Wynette hadn’t expected. He had actually rejected Lorelei’s call.

In just that short time, Lorelei kept calling nonstop.

She called several times, and Noah rejected every single one.

Wynette simply watched quietly without saying a word.

Seeing the endless calls, Noah began to feel irritated.

He had finally managed to appease Wynette. He didn’t want all that effort ruined because of one phone call from Lorelei.

At last, the phone stopped ringing. He quietly let out a breath of relief.

But in the very next second, he received a message.

It was a photo covered in blood.

Lorelei had sent him a photo of her wrist after cutting it.

Noah’s face changed instantly. He didn’t even have time to say a word to Wynette before rushing out the door.

Watching him leave in such a panic, Wynette didn’t try to stop him.

See? She had known that would be the outcome.

She wondered where Noah found the confidence to tell her he could completely cut Lorelei out of his life.

He might not think it was ridiculous, but Wynette felt like the biggest fool for ever believing him.

At least now he was gone. She was done facing him.

Back in the bedroom, she finally noticed that Adriel had sent her a message.

“Do you

like any of them?”

Scrolling up, she saw that he had sent more than a dozen photos of different wedding dress designs.

Every single one matched her taste.

For some reason, just looking at those photos, Wynette could feel the care behind them.

He had clearly put real thought into choosing them.

She couldn’t help thinking back to when she and Noah had picked out a wedding dress. He had been very perfunctory. Even though she eventually chose a style she liked, the ironic part was that the final size ended up being wrong.

Pushing those memories aside, Wynette called Adriel.

The call connected, but it kept ringing without being answered.

When it automatically disconnected, she didn’t try to call again.

After what she had been through with Noah, she refused to go back to the days when she would keep calling someone if they didn’t answer.

It was beneath her.

Making the same mistake once was enough. There was no need to repeat it.

Almost immediately, Adriel called her back.

Seeing his name flashing on the screen, Wynette was a little surprised.

She answered, and his voice came through right away. “My phone wasn’t with me just now. By the time I got to it, the call had already ended.”

He was explaining why he hadn’t answered earlier.

Before she could speak, he asked again, “Do you like any of the wedding dress designs?”

She chuckled. “Adriel, aren’t you worried I might change my mind at the last minute?”

The moment she said that, she heard his heavy breathing from the other end.

Even through the phone, she could feel the shift in his emotions.

Her smile stiffened. She immediately regretted saying that.

They weren’t close enough yet to joke like that.

“I-” Wynette started, trying to ease the awkwardness.

Before she could continue, Adriel asked deeply, “Would you do that? Wynette, there are only a few days left. Are you going to change your mind?”

Although his voice sounded calm, she could still hear the restraint behind his words.

Wynette cleared her throat. “Adriel, did you choose those dresses yourself?”

Even though he hadn’t answered yet, she was already certain of it.

Adriel didn’t deny it. “So, will you accept my sincerity?”

His words stirred an unfamiliar feeling in Wynette’s chest.

When she didn’t respond right away, Adriel didn’t rush her. He simply waited quietly.

After a moment, Wynette answered honestly, “I like them a lot. There are just so many a little hard to choose.”

That part was true. The number of options had made her a little overwhelmed.

Adriel chuckled lightly. “Or I could contact Anna and have her design one for you.”
