He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 142

"I have a feeling your mother's favorite is probably the stuffed toy on the bed," Wynette said, pointing at the plush hidden under the blanket.

Amias stared at her in surprise. "How did you figure that out?"

Wynette gave him a knowing look. "I can tell you. But before that, there's something I need some answers."

Amias's expression shifted slightly at this.

He looked at her quietly, clearly unwilling to continue the subject.

That reaction made Wynette even more certain of her suspicion.

She smiled a little and asked softly, "I just want to know... are you 'Ammius-Crocus'?"

She had finally remembered why the plush on Mabel's bed looked familiar.

It was exactly the same plush doll she had once seen in pictures posted by Ammius-Crocus's assistant.

Even though the toy's face had been covered, the memory suddenly clicked in her mind.

Amias's expression stayed perfectly calm as he met her gaze. "Ms. Jewell, I honestly don't know what you mean."

Then he smiled innocently. "Back at the church, Adriel was already testing me in every possible way. And now you're doing the same thing? I don't know anyone named 'Ammius-Crocus."

He looked completely serious, so sincere that it was hard to believe he was lying.

With him denying it so directly, Wynette suddenly didn't know what else to say.

If he had admitted it, she could have openly asked for his help.

But he had no intention of acknowledging it, and continuing this conversation would make things awkward.

Wynette sighed quietly to herself. She really had no idea how to continue.

After a moment of hesitation, she decided to stop pressing him.

Amias stayed calm the entire time, without the slightest trace of panic at being found out.

The look of genuine surprise on his face even made Wynette wonder if she had guessed wrong.

After all, a plush alone proved nothing.

Amias slowly pulled his gaze away and said, "No matter what, thank you for today. I'll definitely visit another day, and thank you properly. I'm going to check on my mother now."

As he spoke, he gave her a gentle smile.

Wynette realized that staying longer would interrupt the mother and son.

Feeling a little awkward, she said, "I've got a few things to handle too; I'll head out now."

With that, she turned and left under Amias's watchful gaze.

On the drive home, Wynette couldn't stop thinking about the conversation.

When she arrived home, Ryker was sitting by the floor-to-ceiling windows, quietly enjoying the sunlight.

Kaylee had moved a small table beside him, and it was covered with freshly cut flowers.

The moment she saw Wynette walk in, Kaylee beamed happily. "Adriel had these flowers delivered. He said they were freshly picked. Aren't they beautiful?"

When Wynette stepped closer, she realized they were Kaylee's favorite flowers. No wonder her mother was smiling so brightly.

The flowers were obviously grown with excellent care.

Looking at the freshly cut blooms, Wynette suddenly felt a little bad for them.

"They really are gorgeous," she admitted.

Adriel had figured out everyone's preferences in her family. He was trying hard to win them over.

The second Kaylee heard this, her smile widened even more.
