To keep Noah from leaving, Lorelei gritted her teeth and threw herself down the stairs.
Noah, who had just chased after Wynette, heard the noise behind him.
He was forced to stop and turn around, only to see Lorelei tumbling down the steps.
“Lorelei!” Noah’s eyes widened as he rushed toward her.
By then, Lorelei had already passed out.
He no longer had the chance to chase after Wynette and explain. He scooped Lorelei up
in his
arms and rushed out.
The next time Wynette saw Noah was later that afternoon.
He was holding the wedding dress. “I brought your dress back,” he said.
The dress was wrinkled, dirty, and even stained with a little blood.
Wynette looked coldly at him and made no move to take it.
Her voice was icy. “Throw it away. I don’t want it anymore.”
He actually had the nerve to bring a ruined dress to her.
Wynette almost began to wonder just how cheap she looked in Noah’s eyes-cheap enough that she wouldn’t even mind taking something that had already been dirtied.
Only then did Noah notice the blood on the dress.
He had been in such a hurry to come explain things to Wynette that he hadn’t paid attention to the dress.
Looking apologetic, he said, “I originally wanted to come see you earlier, but Lorelei fell down the stairs.
“Sorry. I’ll order a new custom dress for you. Is that okay?”
He lowered his posture and asked for her opinion.
After all, it really had been his fault.
It was the first time Wynette had ever seen Noah apologize so quickly.
But she didn’t care.
She only replied coolly as ever, “Just throw it away.”

Noah studied her face carefully. Seeing her completely expressionless made him feel strangely
uneasy.
Still, since she had said so, he tossed the dress into a nearby trash can.
Then he continued, “Do you have time now? I’ll take you to pick out a new design and have another one made.”
He truly wanted to make up for it and showed plenty of sincerity.
Before, Wynette would definitely have followed his arrangements.
But now, she had no expectations left.
Meeting Noah’s gaze, she smiled faintly. “Sorry, I actually have somewhere I need to go.”
Before he arrived, Wynette had already gotten ready to leave.
She wasn’t lying.
After hearing her answer, Noah stared at her, his eyes full of scrutiny.
He was trying to see whether she was lying.
Could it really be such a coincidence that she suddenly had something to do?
He couldn’t help wondering if she was just making up an excuse to reject him.
Noticing Noah’s gaze, Wynette remained calm. “Noah, I really do have something to take care of. If you don’t believe me, I can’t help that.”
She felt there was no point in saying anything more.
Whether he believed her or not had nothing to do with her anymore.
Seeing her indifferent attitude, Noah’s expression darkened.
He felt that he had already lowered himself again and again to comfort her, yet she kept treating him coldly. What more did she want?
He had his own temper, too. He thought he had been patient enough.
Yet Wynette kept pushing further, leaving him embarrassed repeatedly.
His emotions suddenly flared up.
His face darkened as he tried hard to suppress the anger inside him.

After a long moment, Noah finally said, “Fine. I’ll drive you there.”

He wanted to see exactly what Wynette was so busy with after rejecting him. Or whether she was simply brushing him off.
Wynette hadn’t expected Noah to offer to drive her. She frowned slightly and fell into thought.
Someone had already shown interest in the condominium. She was on her way to sign the property transfer papers.
At this critical moment, she didn’t want any unnecessary complications-especially not letting Noah know that she was selling the condo.
Judging by his attitude, she knew he wouldn’t just let her leave.
He had never cared about her. Why was he suddenly being so persistent now?
This version of Noah made Wynette feel extremely irritated.
Finally, she met his gaze and replied, “Then I’ll trouble you.”
She chose to compromise.
If Noah insisted on driving her, then so be it. Once she reached her destination, she could figure out a way to send him away.
Wynette gave him the address, then opened the back door and got into the rear seat.
Seeing her sit in the back, Noah’s expression darkened. Did she think he was her driver?
He was about to ask her to sit in the front when he caught the traces Lorelei had left on the
passenger seat.
The words he was about to say got stuck in his throat.
There were little labels Lorelei had stuck there, along with many cartoon stickers-even a tag marking it as her exclusive seat.
Every detail showed Lorelei’s presence.
Noah noticed it, and so did Wynette.
She lifted her eyes slightly and met Noah’s suddenly awkward gaze, her eyes filled with deep
sarcasm.
Just one glance made him quickly look
away.
For some reason, whenever Wynette showed that mocking expression, Noah felt guilty.

He didn’t even know how to face her, and he could only avoid her gaze in the end.
Suppressing the discomfort in his chest, Noah started the car and drove toward the destination.

The car stopped in front of a real estate agency. He immediately asked, “Wynette, why are you coming here?”
