He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 16

Chapter 16 Stop Being So Willful

Almost the moment Noah drove away, Wynette stopped walking.

She slowly turned around, her eyes dark as she looked in the direction his car had disappeared.

She took out her phone and unlocked the screen.

On the screen was a post she had just made.

“Checking out our future home!”

The photo was of Noah driving.

Right before the car arrived, Wynette had casually snapped a photo of his back and posted it on Instagram, visible only to Lorelei.

After the car stopped, Wynette deliberately dragged out the time, waiting for Lorelei to see the post and call Noah to pull him away.

Lorelei didn’t disappoint her.

She had used this trick on Wynette countless times before. Now Wynette was simply returning the favor.

Wynette immediately deleted the post without leaving a trace.

After finishing everything, she walked inside.

It wasn’t until the contract was signed that Wynette finally let out a sigh of relief.

“Please transfer the payment to these two cards when the funds are processed,” she said apologetically to the agent.

Both cards were hers.

She planned to wait until the money arrived before handing the bank card over to Noah.

With that burden finally off her mind, Wynette headed to the condominium.

She hired a moving company to remove the furniture Lorelei had bought for the place and had it all hauled off to the dump.

After that, Wynette changed the condo’s electronic lock password.

She sent the new password directly to the real estate agent.

Taking one last look at the condo, Wynette turned and left without hesitation.

In the end, Wynette decided to go back to the Jewell residence first.

Kaylee had just returned from outside, smiling faintly.

When she saw Wynette, she walked over happily. “Wynette, did you and Noah make up?”

Wynette was about to shake her head and say no.

But Kaylee had already taken her hand, her face full of relief. “I knew you’d still think about the bigger picture. You’ve really suffered.

“Shepherd Group has already resumed negotiations with Jewell Group about the partnership. I knew Noah still cared about you. See? The moment you two made up, he immediately helped us again.”

Kaylee had been worrying about how to persuade Wynette to reconcile with Noah.

While she was at the treatment center, she received the good news from the Shepherd Group.

As soon as she heard Wynette was home, she rushed back excitedly.

Looking at her daughter now, Kaylee felt more and more satisfied.

Wynette was stunned, but she quickly understood. It seemed Noah had not only resumed cooperation with her studio but had also softened his stance toward the Jewell Group.

Thinking about his earlier attitude, she couldn’t help feeling confused.

What exactly was Noah after?

She simply couldn’t understand his behavior.

Kaylee didn’t notice Wynette’s strange mood. Her voice remained cheerful. “You came back at the perfect time. I already called Noah and invited him over for dinner as a thank-you.

“Come help me cook something he likes.”

She rolled up her sleeves and pulled Wynette toward the kitchen.

Wynette tried helplessly to free her hand.

She had finally managed to get Noah out of her sight.

And now Kaylee had invited him straight to her doorstep.

“Mom,” Wynette said as she was dragged into the kitchen, “Noah is busy. He probably doesn’t have time-”

She wanted to say that even if he did come, it would just be a quick appearance.

She was certain that he’d barely last half an hour before Lorelei’s call dragged him off.

Kaylee shot her a glare. “What’s wrong with you? Noah said he’s coming right away. Even if you’re still upset with him, just put up with it.

“Wynette, we’re the ones asking for help. Put away your temper and stop being so willful. Don’t give Noah a cold face again. Understand?”

She warned her daughter anxiously.

After all, Noah had helped the Jewells again. No matter how angry Wynette had been, it should have faded by now.

Listening to Kaylee’s words, Wynette pursed her lips.

She realized there were some things she simply couldn’t communicate with her mother about.

It left her feeling helpless.

Seeing Wynette remain silent, Kaylee pressed again, “I’m talking to you. Did you hear me?”

Wynette’s attitude gave Kaylee a headache. She was afraid her daughter wouldn’t follow her

arrangements.

Growing anxious, Kaylee tugged on Wynette’s arm, urging her to respond.

Meeting her mother’s gaze, Wynette finally said softly, “I understand.”

She knew that anything other than agreement would fall on deaf ears.

So she simply went along with it.

At least she could enjoy some peace.

Wynette didn’t want to please Noah, but she also couldn’t refuse Kaylee.

In the end, she chose a compromise and helped Kaylee as a sous chef in the kitchen.

By the time the last dish was placed on the table, Noah finally arrived.

He glanced at Wynette and explained, “Something came up and delayed me.”

She simply nodded, having nothing to say about it.

Kaylee smiled warmly at him. “It’s fine. You came at the perfect time. Let’s eat.”

Then she turned and instructed, “Wynette, get Noah a bowl of soup.”

Before Wynette could move, Noah had already stood up. “I’ll get it myself.”

As he spoke, he ladled some soup into a bowl.

He placed the bowl in front of Wynette. “This is for you.”

Then he filled another bowl and handed it to Kaylee. “Have some soup.”

Kaylee smiled brightly and took the bowl. “You should have some as well. Make yourself at home.”

She kept hinting at Wynette, signaling her to take better care of Noah.

Wynette lowered her head and pretended not to notice, completely ignoring Noah sitting beside her.

Seeing Wynette remain silent, Kaylee felt both frustrated and disappointed, her reproach.

Noah could feel the tension between mother and daughter, especially Wynette’s indifferent attitude.

He frowned slightly.

He had thought he had already coaxed Wynette into forgiving him, but her attitude now felt far too cold.
