"Shut up."
Justin's expression turned vicious, veins standing out on his forehead.
Without warning, he slapped Noah hard across the face.
Noah's head jerked sideways. His ears buzzed instantly.
A bright red handprint quickly appeared on his cheek.
Justin's hand felt slightly numb from the impact. His face was dark with anger as he glared at Noah.
"You caused this mess yourself, and you still have the nerve to blame other people? You don't even know how to reflect on your stupidity. Noah, is this what I taught you?"
He was furious enough that his chest heaved violently. The anger stuck in his throat, leaving him struggling to breathe evenly.
That slap finally knocked some sense back into Noah.
Clenching his fists tightly, he turned to look at Justin's disappointed expression. "Dad, what are we supposed to do now?"
Justin held back his temper and snapped, "What can we do? It's already all over the news. What do you expect me to do now? Someone obviously did this on purpose.
"Noah, if you had listened to me from the beginning, married Wynette, and gotten the shares your grandfather handed to her, none of this would've happened. I told you to listen, but you thought I was forcing you. Well? Are you happy now?"
Hands on his hips, Justin looked so angry he was ready to hit someone again.
In the end, he kicked a nearby chair so hard it scraped loudly across the floor.
This time, Noah kept his mouth shut and did not dare argue back.
At first, he truly hated how his family kept interfering in his relationship with Wynette.
Noah admitted that he liked her. But his family constantly pressured him about marriage. They kept saying that once Adam transferred the shares to Wynette, they could find a way to take them back later.
Maybe the Jewell Group would eventually end up in Noah's hands.
That way, they technically would not be going against Adam's original conditions.
If Noah and Wynette had a child together, it would be even better. Once there was a child, Adam would hand over the inheritance rights completely.
Justin had spent years convincing him. Keep Wynette around first. Marry her. Secure Adam's shares and the Jewell Group. After that, Noah could date whatever woman he wanted.
But Noah had rebelled instead.
He thought he had Wynette completely under control, yet he still kept Lorelei by his side everywhere he went, almost like he wanted the entire city to know how important she was to him.
In reality, Justin had pushed him too hard. That pressure slowly turned into resentment.
Noah deliberately treated Wynette badly. Over time, he ended up burying his feelings for her too.
Justin took a deep breath. "I told you to stay out of trouble. Why couldn't you just listen to me? Noah, I'm your father. Do you really think I'd harm you?"
The more he spoke, the angrier he became.
Noah lowered his head and muttered, "How was I not listening? If I didn't go after Wynette, Adriel would've taken her away. He likes her. He's always liked her."
"Then why don't you think about what you were doing when you actually had the chance to treat her well?" Justin shouted. "Now you regret it? What's the point? Tell me, what exactly do you have that can compete with Adriel?"
If Justin had not regained some control over himself, he probably would have slapped Noah again.
"I..." Noah opened his mouth several times but could not get another word out.
Justin let out a cold laugh. "I already told you I'd handle everything. As long as Wynette hasn't agreed to be with Adriel, he's nothing to worry about. And even if she does agree, do you really think it's that easy to marry into that family?"
Whether Wynette could truly become part of the Gallaghers was still uncertain.
