Justin rushed back into the town the next morning.
Wynette and Adriel had stayed at the hospital with Tom the entire night.
When Wynette saw Justin's tired face and messy beard, she glanced at Adriel.
It was rare to see Justin looking so worn-down and unkempt, but that had nothing to do with her.
Wynette quietly said to Tom, "We're going to head out now. Please give me a call once Mr. Adam wakes up."
Tom nodded with shaky movements. "Alright. Thank you, Ms. Jewell and Mr. Gallagher. I truly appreciate everything you both did."
If Wynette and Adriel had not stayed behind with him last night, Tom honestly would not have known how to handle things alone.
Wynette simply told him not to be so polite.
Then, under Justin's silent stare, she left the hospital with Adriel.
After walking out of the ward, Wynette turned to the man beside her. "Are you hungry? I'll treat you to breakfast."
Adriel nodded lightly.
The two found a small breakfast diner near the hospital.
While eating, Adriel said, "Tomorrow afternoon, bring your parents to Rainmist House. My grandparents already contacted Dr. Clem. He reviewed the medical reports and said the condition doesn't seem too serious, but he still wants to check them personally."
The final situation would depend on Virgil's examination.
Wynette had not expected things to be arranged this quickly. She thought they would need to wait several more days.
But since Adriel had already taken care of everything, all she had to do was follow his plans.
"Okay," Wynette answered softly.
Adriel looked at her and added, "Don't stress too much. Trust Dr. Clem."
Wynette nodded gently.
Then she suddenly remembered something. "I ran into Amias at the treatment center. His mother is there too. Why would the Holloways send her there?"
Wynette did not know much about the family.
Adriel thought for a moment before explaining. "Amias's father is a painter. He's always traveling around and never settles down. A real playboy. His mother was only one of many women in his life. Later, she got pregnant and used the child to force him into marriage.
"They held a wedding, but his father refused to legally register the marriage. He said he didn't want marriage restricting him. His mother didn't care much about that, so she stayed with the Holloways and gave birth to Amias."
Even during her pregnancy, Crispin Holloway kept fooling around outside. One day he would be in Scenaville, the next somewhere else, and a few days later he might already be overseas. There was always a different woman beside him.
Meanwhile, Mabel stayed alone in a huge empty house while pregnant, often unable to even contact him.
Whenever Crispin came home, the two would fight constantly.
Mabel's emotions became extremely unstable during the pregnancy. She nearly miscarried several times and had to stay on bed rest more than once.
Amias was eventually born premature after another major fight late in the pregnancy.
Apparently, Mabel lost her temper and started fighting with Crispin while heavily pregnant. During the argument, he shoved her, and she went into early labor.
On the day Amias was born, Crispin insisted the baby had been born full-term and claimed the child could not possibly be his. He even accused Mabel of trying to make him raise another man's child.
Those heartless words nearly killed Mabel. She suffered severe bleeding during childbirth and almost died on the operating table. Although the doctors managed to save her, they had to remove her uterus afterward.
In the end, Willard Holloway, Crispin's father, personally arranged a DNA test, which finally shut Crispin up.
But even after that, Crispin still refused to acknowledge either Mabel or Amias. That same day, he stormed out of the hospital and went right back to his carefree lifestyle.
Because he was born premature, Amias had always been frail and sickly growing up.
Mabel carried too much resentment in her heart and could not properly care for him.
