He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 187

Damon gave an awkward smile. "Ms. Jewell, I'm really sorry. That silk satin was truly gone, and my factory didn't have any substitute fabric left either."

There was a trace of embarrassment in his eyes.

As for there being no substitute at all, that wasn't entirely true.

Back when the production had started, Damon's side had still had a batch of silk satin without the gold-stamping process applied to it.

But the Shepherds had already spoken, and Damon didn't dare go against them.

Damon had heard that Wynette had only recently taken over the company. In his eyes, she was just a young girl who would probably be easy to fool.

Wynette stared at him. "Mr. Caldwell, there's really nothing left?"

Originally, she had planned to negotiate with Damon properly.

But judging from his reaction now, he still refused to tell her the truth.

She knew Damon definitely still had that batch of silk satin.

Because back then, the Jewell Group had needed that material for a large order of clothing.

At the time, they had purchased a considerable amount from Damon.

Later, that clothing line had switched to a different material, so the entire batch of silk satin had remained in Damon's warehouse.

At the time, the company had already paid two-thirds of the payment and signed an agreement with Damon. The materials would stay stored at his warehouse, and he would keep them on behalf of the Jewell Group.

Whenever the Jewell Group needed the materials, they would pay the remaining one-third balance and take the fabrics away.

According to the agreement, Damon had only been temporarily storing the silk satin for the Jewell Group. He had no right to dispose of that batch of fabric, much less sell it all off.

Before Wynette came over, Shirley had already found the agreement, scanned it into an electronic file, and sent it to Wynette's email.

The reason Wynette hadn't brought it up at first was simply because she didn't want to completely tear things apart. After all, so much material was still sitting in Damon's warehouse.

Damon clearly hadn't expected Wynette to know the details so well.

Even now, he still insisted, "It's really gone, Ms. Jewell. There's no reason for me to joke with you about something like this, right?"

Seeing Damon continue to insist, Wynette pulled out the electronic agreement. "Then why don't you explain this agreement, Mr. Caldwell?"

The moment Damon saw the agreement, his expression changed instantly. He hurriedly explained, "Ms. Jewell, it's true that we signed this agreement back then. That batch of silk satin did belong to the Jewell Group. But the materials were already transferred out by your company a long time ago. Our warehouse still has records of it. If you don't believe me, I can pull them up for you right now."

As Damon spoke, he made a phone call and told the warehouse manager to come over immediately.

If Wynette hadn't already investigated everything beforehand, she might actually have believed his nonsense.

"There's no need to call anyone over. The so-called warehouse records on your side can be altered at any time. Damon, my company has no record of receiving that shipment." Wynette's voice turned cold.

She had already asked Shirley to thoroughly review their warehouse records.

Back then, ordering that batch of silk satin had cost a huge amount of money.

The financial transaction records were all there. Neither the accounting department nor the warehouse records matched what Damon was claiming.

As soon as Damon heard that, he shot back unhappily, "Ms. Jewell, if we're going by your logic, then shouldn't I also reasonably suspect that your side could alter records too? You've only taken over the Jewell Group recently. Do you even understand how your company operates? Have you figured everything out from top to bottom yet?"

He was undeniably clever, using Wynette's own words against her.

Damon thought that would completely shut her down.

But Wynette clearly didn't take his words seriously at all.
