Callie's gaze was gentle as she looked Wynette up and down.
Noticing Callie's scrutinizing look, Wynette maintained a polite smile.
For some reason, she suddenly felt a little nervous.
Callie seemed to notice Wynette's emotions and slowly withdrew her gaze. "Todd told me about it. Ms. Jewell, you're looking for a type of silk satin suitable for making sheath dresses?"
The Todd Gill she mentioned was the friend Adriel and Wynette had brought up earlier.
Wynette nodded lightly. "Yes. I heard that Ms. Robinson enjoys collecting fabrics, and I urgently need this type of silk for an upcoming fashion showcase, so I shamelessly came to ask if you might have any suitable material you'd be willing to part with. Of course, I'm willing to pay a high price for it."
Wynette's attitude was calm and respectful, neither humble nor arrogant.
She remembered that when she had seen Callie on the cruise ship before, Callie had also been wearing a sheath dress.
After hearing that Callie had a collecting hobby, Wynette had briefly searched up information about her.
Callie loved all kinds of sheath dresses, and she wore them to every major social event and business gathering.
Honestly, those sheath dresses looked incredibly elegant on Callie.
She suited them perfectly.
It was no wonder Callie collected all kinds of materials suitable for making sheath dresses.
Wynette had heard that Callie owned a very famous sheath dress boutique called Le Bambou Noir. Every season, the store's featured finale piece was personally designed and crafted by Callie herself, from concept to production, without anyone else's involvement.
Of course, the seasonal finale sheath dresses were always kept in Callie's personal collection and never sold.
Even so, Le Bambou Noir was still unbelievably famous.
Mainly because customers absolutely loved the brand's designs.
Callie did not respond to Wynette's request right away.
She simply waited for the dishes to be served.
Only after all the dishes were placed on the table did Callie slowly look toward Wynette. "Try the citrus baked fish fillet."
Wynette looked at the citrus baked fish fillet that had been rotated in front of her and spoke apologetically. "Ms. Robinson, I'm sorry. I'm allergic to seafood."
"I'll try it." Adriel picked up the serving fork and placed a piece of fish into the empty bowl in front of him. "My Winnie is a little special. She's allergic to both seafood and grapes, so please bear with us, Ms. Robinson."
After speaking, he took a bite of the fish and praised it. "It's good."
When Callie heard that Wynette was allergic to seafood, her expression shifted slightly.
But she quickly returned to normal.
She first glanced at Adriel, and with just one look, she could tell this man treated Wynette differently.
Then she looked at Wynette. "You're from Scenaville?"
"Mm." Wynette answered, "I was born in Scenaville and raised in Scenaville."
Callie nodded knowingly after hearing that. "Have you always lived in Scenaville? You never left?"
Wynette found the question very strange.
Why was Callie suddenly asking her something like that?
Wynette hesitated briefly. "Mm."
Callie curved her lips into a smile. "So you're an only child? Your parents raised you very well. You're really beautiful."
She openly praised Wynette's appearance.
Wynette met Callie's eyes. The woman before her was elegant and noble, smiling warmly, and even the way she looked at her was filled with gentleness.
Wynette returned the smile. "I'm an only child. You flatter me, Ms. Robinson."
Callie smiled brightly. "I don't like speaking in empty pleasantries. I genuinely think you're very beautiful. It's a shame you already have someone in your heart. Otherwise, if you had sisters at home, maybe I could satisfy my desire to play matchmaker. My useless son is already 23 and still has never dated anyone. It's driving me crazy as a mother."
Callie looked genuinely distressed.
The moment Wynette heard that, she instantly understood why Callie had been asking all those questions earlier.
That scared her to death!
