Chapter 19 If You Don’t Mind
As soon as Wynette finished moving her things, Noah’s assistant brought people in to reorganize the office.
Soon, plants and air purifiers were carried in one after another.
The exaggerated display, as if announcing it to the whole world, only made the people in the studio who already had complaints even more dissatisfied.
But no matter how unhappy they were, they still chose to ignore it under Wynette’s signal.
Not long after, Noah returned to the studio with Lorelei.
He walked into the office with her and said, “Take a look. If anything feels off, we can adjust it.”
Lorelei smiled brightly. “I love everything. I’m very satisfied. Thank you, Noah. Sorry for the hassle.”
“Don’t worry. I studied programming before. It’s been a while, so I’m a little rusty, but I’ll work hard to get back into it and help Wynette more.”
When Lorelei mentioned Wynette, Noah instinctively looked through the glass wall.
Wynette’s office had one fully transparent wall. Outsiders couldn’t see inside, but she could clearly see the outside from inside.
It faced the shared work area.
His gaze landed on the woman in the corner, who was intently watching the screen.
Occasionally, colleagues would walk up to her with laptops to ask questions or discuss matters. Wynette would always set aside what she was doing to talk with them.
Noah couldn’t remember the last time he had seen her working so seriously.
He barely ever came to the studio.
When he first learned that Wynette wanted to start this game studio, he hadn’t had high expectations.
He invested only because she was dating him.
He didn’t care whether the studio made money. A small amount of investment meant nothing to him.
But he knew Wynette cared deeply about it.
She invested her heart into it and handled everything personally.

Back then, he thought that spending some money to make her happy was worth it.
Lorelei noticed where Noah was looking, and her eyes darkened.

Soon, she said softly, “Wynette gets along so well with her team. The atmosphere here is really nice. Honestly, I’m kind of jealous.
“I hope one day I can have that kind of harmony with Wynette. Noah, I keep relying on you so much. Wynette only gets upset and jealous because she cares about you. You should just coax her more.”
Lorelei nudged him. “How about this? It’s my first day, so I’ll treat everyone to a meal. Don’t go home yet. Use this chance to fix things with Wynette.”
She made it sound as if everything she said was for the good of Wynette and Noah.
And Noah actually believed her.
He forgot that every misunderstanding between him and Wynette had started because of Lorelei.
In his mind, Wynette had always been the unreasonable one who caused trouble, as if he had done nothing wrong.
He only saw Lorelei as considerate and understanding.
Thinking about it, Noah said, “You just joined. I should be the one treating everyone.”
Lorelei didn’t insist. “That works too. It’s the same either way. Just remember to talk things through with Wynette.”
In reality, she would never allow Noah the chance to be alone with Wynette.
She was confident about that.
All it took was a few words to earn his sympathy. Why wouldn’t she take advantage of it?
Seeing that she was still worrying about the tense relationship between him and Wynette, Noah felt a surge of guilt.
His expression turned cold, and he said flatly, “You don’t have to cater to her like that.”
That simple sentence instantly delighted Lorelei.
She knew Noah still prioritized her feelings.
Lorelei smiled softly at him. “As long as you and Wynette clear up your misunderstandings and make peace, I don’t mind feeling wronged.”

From an outsider’s perspective, it looked like they were embracing deeply.
While Noah wasn’t looking, Lorelei sent Wynette the recording of what he had just said.
Wynette had all her attention on game testing.
When her phone chimed, she kept her eyes on the screen while playing the voice message near her ear.
Noah’s clear voice played back. “You don’t have to cater to her like that.”
His tone was cold and distant.
Wynette paused for a moment, then glanced at the phone screen.
Only then did she notice the message had come from Lorelei.
She was already used to Lorelei’s little tricks.
After hearing it, she remained calm.
Wynette exited the chat without wasting another second on Lorelei’s childish provocation.
Still, she didn’t expect that even after she chose to ignore them, Lorelei and Noah would shamelessly parade themselves in front of her.
At lunchtime, Noah and Lorelei walked out of the office. He announced to everyone, “To welcome Lorelei to the team, I’m treating everyone to lunch today. Get ready. We’ve arranged private cars to take you there.”
After he finished, everyone exchanged troubled looks.
No one really wanted to go. They were all afraid the meal would be unbearable.
Seeing the silence, Lorelei bit her lip slightly and looked at Wynette. “Come with us, Wynette.”
As soon as she spoke, Noah’s eyes also landed on Wynette.
Wynette felt completely speechless when both of them fixed their eyes on her.
She forced herself not to roll her eyes and was about to refuse.
If she had to eat with Lorelei, she was afraid she might choke to death.
Noah’s gaze darkened slightly with displeasure as he warned, “The game is about to launch anyway. Wynette, just treat it as an early celebration. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

He knew well that Wynette had contributed more to the studio than he had.
Because of that, she carried more influence among the team they worked with.
Noah had seen everything that happened today.
Wynette had clearly won the team’s support, and everyone was taking her side. That alone already made him unhappy.
But he also held her weak spot.
He was making it clear that if she wanted the game to launch smoothly, she had better cooperate with him.
Her reaction was exactly what he expected.
Under his stare, Wynette smiled faintly. “Of course. We’ll follow Mr. Shepherd’s arrangement.”
As soon as she finished, she turned to the others and said, “Let’s not waste Mr. Shepherd’s kind
offer.”
