“Adriel, why are you creeping up at us? Did you just listen to my conversation with my best friend? That’s not cool.”
She patted her chest.
He really scared her.
Adriel shrugged and reminded him, “Hey, hold on. Listening? Don’t make me sound like some creep.”
He smirked. “You were so loud, anyone walking by would stop and listen. How is that my fault?”
Joanne grabbed a pillow from behind Wynette and threw it at him.
She jumped up and rushed over. While Adriel dodged, she lunged forward and wrapped an arm around his neck. “Take this!”
Adriel let her hang on him and took a hard smack on his back.
Wow, she isn’t holding back.
His back stung, but he calmly pulled her off and tapped her forehead, holding her at arm’s length. She kicked and swung, trying to reach him, but couldn’t.
Joanne puffed up her cheeks, mad and frustrated, and kept complaining.
Wynette sat on the hospital bed, watching the siblings interact. She stared, a little surprised.
It was the first time she had seen Adriel show anything other than a flat expression.
Right now, he just looked like a normal brother, joking and playing around. It felt new to her.
Maybe it was because she was seeing a different side of him.
Thinking that. Wynette laughed quietly to herself.
Especially when she saw how cute Joanne seemned, she was flailing her arms and legs but still couldn’t touch her brother.
Adriel noticed the smile on Wynette’s lips.
He glanced at her from the corner of his eye. He had been about to push Joanne away, but he stopped.
Joanne still couldn’t hit him. She got even angrier and started grumbling.
She struggled and kept snapping at him.
Adriel let her talk, then looked down at her. “So, what was that night you’ll never forget‘ about?”

He was still thinking about what he overheard carlier.
At that, Joanne suddenly stopped.
She stood straight, hands on her hips, and glar easy on your sister?”

him. “You’re so annoying. Don’t you know how to go
Adriel chuckled. “You can’t beat me anyway. What are you going to do?”
That hit a nerve.
Joanne opened her mouth to argue but swallowed the words.
She blinked, then said with a playful smile, “Fine. I’m generous. I won’t argue with you.”
“You? Generous?” Adriel gave her a doubtful look.
It was full of disbelief.
Joanne gritted her teeth. She really wanted to strangle him.
Knowing she wouldn’t win against him, she suddenly put on a sweet smile. “Adriel, can I ask you something?”
The moment he saw that smile, he knew it wouldn’t be anything good.
“No.”
“How can you do this?” Joanne grabbed his arm and twisted it lightly.
She felt like he was especially annoying today.
Talking was one thing.
But even his actions were annoying.
He wasn’t usually like this at all.
Joanne seriously suspected he was doing this on purpose.
Adriel looked at her and said calmly, “No means no.”
Joanne almost lost it. “I haven’t even told you what it is! Adriel, that’s not fair. I’m going to cry, okay?”
Is this the same brother who usually spoiled me?
Fine. I’ll let him win.

Adriel was smiling, but his eyes darkened as he looked at her.
“Adriel,” Joanne called out, noticing something strange in the air between them.
Or was she just imagining it?
Adriel quickly looked away and nodded. “Ms. Jewell finally saw through that guy after all these years and got rid of him. That’s worth celebrating.”
Joanne’s attention snapped right back to him.
“Exactly! I knew you’d understand,” she said quickly. “Of course you’d support me.”
She could afford a place like Lux Club. But if she could get her brother to pay, why not?
Free was always better.
She clasped her hands together and looked at Adriel with shining eyes. “My wise and amazing brother, please, please. I’ll host; you pay. You’re the best. I love you!”
“You little troublemaker” Adriel flicked her forehead.

Joanne pouted and covered her head. “Ow! Don’t hit me. I’m not that smart. If I get any dumber, are you going to take care of me forever?”
Adriel laughed. “Sure. That’s easy. Go ahead. Whatever you spend, I’ll cover it.”
In the end, he agreed.
“Adriel, you’re the best!” Joanne cheered, jumping at him and grabbing his face, trying to plant a big kiss on him.
Adriel pushed her away with a look of disgust. “Get off.”
Joanne kept trying to pounce on him anyway.
Adriel dodged again and again.
Watching them. Wynette couldn’t help it. She covered her mouth and laughed softly.
