He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48 From Celebration to Confrontation

At first. Wynette had no idea that Noah had caused a scene at the condo.

After blocking his number, she followed Joanne into the movie theater.

N

She hadn’t really paid attention to what movie Joanne had picked. It wasn’t until cartoon characters showed up on the screen that she realized Joanne had chosen a kids‘ animated film.

At that time of day, the huge theater was completely empty.

Just the two of them; no one else was there.

Picshed

Wynette looked around at the empty seats and couldn’t help thinking they were two grown women who had basically rented out the whole place just by buying two tickets.

Was that even normal?

Noticing her look, Joanne leaned over and whispered, “You couldn’t deal with horror movies. I think artsy films are boring. And romance? Yeah, I think we both kind of hate those right now.

“So after crossing everything out, this was the only option left. It’s for all ages. I think it’s perfect. Look–it. brings out our inner child. Isn’t that great?”

Inner childwhat a funny way to put it.

When Wynette heard Joanne use that phrase, she was stunned for a second, then she burst out laughing.

Honestly, watching a cartoon wasn’t a problem.

What mattered most was the fact that Joanne was there with her.

With that thought, Wynette gave Joanne a small signal that the movie was starting.

Just as she was about to put her phone on silent, a message came in from the condo’s new owner.

“Ms. Jewell, I’m sorry to bother you this late. I thought about it and felt I should tell you. About half an hour ago, a man showed up with a woman and tried to force their way in. He was very angry and seemed to be looking for you. Security already made them leave. Please be careful.”

So that was why Noah had been blowing up her phone, demanding to know if she had sold the place.

Now it made sense.

Wynette let out a cold, quiet scoff.

She replied, “Thank you for telling me. Please don’t engage with him. If it happens again, just call the police. Sorry for the trouble.”

After turning her phone to silent mode, Wynette focused fully on the movie.

She stayed that way until it ended.

Chapter 48 From Celebration to Confrontation

Fimehed

After the movie, Wynette went with Joanne and drove to Lux Club.

Adriel had called ahead, so the manager personally came to greet them and led them to a private room that had been prepared.

The room was quiet and calm, which helped Wynette feel more at case.

Joanne had the servers bring in a few good bottles of alcohol.

Joanne raised her glass to Wynette. “To being single–cheers to that! Congratulations to my girl for finally getting rid of that jerk. Long live being single, and long live friendship! Forget love–cheers!”

Wynette didn’t refuse. She clinked glasses with Joanne and took a drink.

Watching her friend throw her arms up and shout “Single forever,” Wynette swallowed the words she had been about to say.

Forget it. I’ll tell her after I get married.

They drank at an easy pace.

But Joanne kept glancing at her watch, over and over. It looked a little strange.

Wynette noticed and asked, “Why do you keep checking the time? Do you have something to do?”

That didn’t seem right. If Joanne had plans, she wouldn’t have dragged her out to celebrate at a club.

Wynette quickly ruled that out.

Joanne wiggled her brows and put a finger to her lips. “Shh! Not telling you yet. It’s a secret.”

She clinked glasses again and kept drinking.

Of course, she wasn’t about to tell Wynette that at midnight, the club would have a male escort show.

PPP.

So that’s what it was. An interactive show. Joanne could’ve just said it. Why be so secretive?

Fuck!” Joanne muttered under her breath.

That jerk again. Why did he have to show up everywhere?!
