He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 49

Chapter 49 Stay Out of My Life

“What bad luck.” Joanne muttered.

Just as Noah was about to call out to Wynette. Joanne spoke first.

She rolled her eyes hard at him and sneered. “They’ll just let anyone walk in now? I’m telling the manager later–stop letting this kind of trash in. It’s disgusting. What if you scare the customers away? So annoying. Trash belongs in the trash can. Don’t come near people when you’re this filthy. Ugh.”

Joanne made a few loud, exaggerated spitting sounds toward him.

Noah’s face darkened. He glared at Joanne, then quickly stepped back, clearly disgusted.

Noah had enough sense to stay away from a crazy woman like Joanne.

Joanne waved her fist and warned, “Get lost. Stop showing up before Wynette.”

She had been drinking, and seeing Noah made her emotions spike. The alcohol hit her hard, and she staggered a couple of steps.

“Careful.” Wynette said, quickly catching her and helping her steady herself.

Then she shot Noah a cold look as he stood in the way. Her lips parted slightly. Don’t just stand there like an idiot–move.”

Wynette had never scolded Noah to his face; this was the first.

Shock spread across Noah’s face. “Wynette, when did you start talking like this? You—”

“If you keep hanging around me,” Wynette cut in coldly, not letting him finish, “it won’t just be words next time. I don’t want to dirty my hands dealing with trash, so do yourself a favor and move.”

Her eyes were icy.

She didn’t want the game project anymore. She had sold the condo and her shares. All that was left was to cut off the business ties between their two companies.

At this point, she saw no reason to keep up the act with Noah.

Some people push further when you’re polite. They don’t know when to stop.

That was Noah,

To him, Wynette’s change felt completely strange.

He couldn’t believe it. He had only ignored her for a few days, and she had turned into someone he didn’t recognize.

Was this really the Wynette I knew? No. It couldn’t be.

He stared at her without blinking. “We need to talk.”

“Talk, my ass!” Joanne snapped. “Where were you before?! When Wynette wanted to talk, you disappeared. Now you suddenly want to talk? Go to hell,”

She rolled up her sleeves and moved like she was about to shove him.

Wynette quickly stopped her.

She pulled Joanne behind her, shielding her. Just looking at Noah’s dark expression made Wynette worried he might lose control and hit someone.

Her first instinct was to protect her friend.

Noal noticed her movement and looked at her coldly.

Wynette met his gaze, even colder. “There’s nothing to talk about. Noah, a decent ex, knows how to stay dead. Don’t show up and bother me. It’s really annoying.

“If you have too much free time, go for a run. Burn off your energy so you stop doing things without thinking.”

Her last words made Noah’s face change slightly.

Back then, when Wynette got upset about how close he was with Lorelei, he had said the exact same things to her–with the same cold tone–telling her to reflect on how annoying she was.

Now, every word came back to him.

It hit him like a boomerang, and he wasn’t ready for it.

Wynette looked at him and thought about how she used to break down over him, how she had been called crazy and pushed aside.

She found it almost funny.

When things don’t happen to you, you never understand.

Now that it had, what is that look on his face?

Hilarious!

Wynette stared at him, her voice still cold. “Move.”

Noah finally came back to his senses. He narrowed his eyes. “Ex? Wynette, did I ever agree to break up?
