Chapter 58 Let Things Fall Into Place

Gavin leaned close to Joanne and started talking about setting Wynette up with Adriel.

Honestly, Joanne thought it sounded like a good idea.

She smiled as she watched the two of them. But then Adriel glanced at her.

Just one look and she dropped the idea right away.

She shook her head. “If you want to play matchmaker, go ahead. I still rely on my brother for money sometimes. Do I look like someone who’d mess with his love life?”

That look from Adriel just now? Yeah, she backed off.

She really wanted Wynette to become her sister-in-law.

Thinking about it was harmless.

But actually doing it? Joanne chose to protect herself first.

Gavin gave her a sideways look. “Wow. That’s all the courage you’ve got?”

Joanne smiled sweetly. “Mr. Spice, if you’re so brave, you do it. Go on. I believe in you.”

“I’ll do it if 1-” Gavin puffed up his chest, ready to make a bold statement. What was there to be afraid of?

But before he could finish, he glanced at Adriel. In the end, he gave up. “Never mind. Let’s stay out of it. Let things happen naturally.”

No matter how bold he was, Gavin wouldn’t dare to openly push Adriel and Wynette together.

If it backfired, Adriel might just banish him somewhere far away, and he wouldn’t be coming back anytime

soon.

Joanne rolled her eyes, but she understood.

She stopped arguing with Gavin and went back to sit between Wynette and Adriel.

The scene looked calm and friendly. But Joanne couldn’t be sure. Who knew what was going on beneath the surface between her best friend and her brother?

Feeling proud of her smart decision, she didn’t notice the brief flash of annoyance in Adriel’s eyes as he looked at her.

After making sure Adriel’s injuries weren’t serious, Wynette stood up to leave.

After everything that happened tonight, she felt exhausted, both physically and mentally.

She was in no mood to keep hanging out.

Joanne felt the same. She got up to leave with her.

Gavin looked shocked.

He opened his mouth to say something.

Adriel spoke again. “We both drank. You drank too. Any objections?”

Gavin shook his head right away. “None at all. I’m a responsible citizen. Don’t drink and drive; don’t drive after drinking. Safety first.

Joanne dropped the idea of calling a ride.

With Adriel around as free labor, why not use it?

She wrapped an arm around Wynette’s shoulders. “Adriel’s a great driver. Come on, let’s go home.”

Wynette glanced at Adriel, then nodded calmly. “Thank you, Mr. Gallagher.”

“No problem,” Adriel replied.

He drove them to Graceview Estate.

By now, Joanne was already drowsy. She had fallen asleep in the car.

Seeing Wynette struggling to support her, Adriel got out. With one hand, he lifted Joanne off Wynette.

“I’ll carry her.”

“I don’t want to! I want to stay with my baby!” Joanne mumbled, struggling. Then she clung tightly to Wynette, arms and legs wrapped around her.

Adriel looked speechless.

Wynette gently patted Joanne’s head, then said to Adriel, “Can you help me get her inside?”

In her current state, Wynette couldn’t manage alone.

Adriel didn’t refuse. He carried Joanne and followed Wynette upstairs.

Wynette led him straight to the main bedroom.
