Chapter 97 Why Should I Believe You?
Wynette drove to the place where Lorelei was staying.
Finished
Lorelei and Noah had completely fallen out after the truth about her fake illness had been exposed.
Yesterday, at the hospital, Lorelei had already undergone police questioning. The moment she learned Wynette intended to sue her for defamation, she had been furious enough to grind her teeth in hatred.
As her injured foot hadn’t received proper treatment, she had to undergo a second surgery.
The doctor told her that irreversible damage had already formed in her ankle. From now on, she would walk with a slight limp and would never fully recover.
Lorelei broke down on the spot.
She frantically called Noah over and over again. But her number had already been blocked. None of her calls could get through.
Noah had blocked every single way she could contact him. He had even reclaimed the house he bought for her.
Not only that. He also demanded that Lorelei repay every cent he had ever spent on her.
It could be said that Lorelei had truly reached a dead end.
Now, she didn’t even dare go online. She only hid inside her hospital room, too afraid to face anyone at all.
The internet was filled with curses targeted at her, and even inside the hospital she could hear people criticizing her everywhere.
At this moment, Lorelei hated Wynette to the bone. If not for Wynette, none of this would have happened to her.
Not once did she reflect on her own mistakes. Instead, she blamed every bit of her suffering entirely on Wynette.
So the moment she saw Wynette appear, hatred instantly flooded her eyes. “Get out! You wretched woman! Get out!”
Grabbing whatever she could reach nearby, Lorelei hurled it toward Wynette.
Wynette paid no attention to her incompetent rage.
She simply walked toward her calmly.
“Get out!” Lorelei resembled a hedgehog with all its spikes raised, glaring defensively at Wynette as she approached.
Her eyes brimmed with caution.
Wynette stopped in front of her, looking down at Lorelei from above.

Finished
Her gaze landed on the leg wrapped in plaster.
On the way here, Wynette had already learned about Lorelei’s current situation.
But she felt no sympathy. Everything happening now was the result of Lorelei’s own actions.
After a long silence, Wynette finally spoke slowly. “…Do you hate me?”
Lorelei said nothing. But the hatred in her eyes gave Wynette the answer she needed.
Wynette chuckled softly. “The person you should hate isn’t me. Lorelei, I didn’t cause your tragedy. Don’t hate the wrong person.”
“If not for you, I would’ve already returned to Noah’s side. You exposed me because you wanted to stop me from getting back together with him, didn’t you? So, stop pretending to be innocent here.” Lorelei glared viciously at Wynette.
Wyr.ette frowned at her words. “You tried to frame me, and I fought back. That’s called self–defense.”
“Lorelei, winners win and losers lose. You need to admit that you lost. And since that, stop making anymore excuses for yourself.”
Lorelei clenched her fists tightly, her eyes still filled with resentment.
There was no way a few simple words from Wynette could erase her hatred.
Deep down, Lorelei simply refused to admit she was inferior to Wynette.
After all, in the beginning, she had been the winner. Every time Noah defended her, Wynette had looked more and more devastated and furious.
She hadn’t lost yet.
Wasn’t it a little too early for Wynette to show up now and flaunt her victory?
“Wynette, get out.” Lorelei’s earlier outburst had pulled at the injury in her ankle again, and the pain was beginning to throb faintly,
Her lips had turned pale, cold sweat sliding down her forehead.
But Wynette still showed no intention of leaving. Instead, she said lightly, “You can’t reach Noah anymore, can you?”
