He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 1003

Sebastian unlocked the apartment door at two in the morning; Helena was already fast asleep.

He stood by the bed, his gaze dark and unreadable.

After a long moment, he turned and headed to the kitchen for a glass of water.

Skye unexpectedly padded out of her room, rubbing her eyes. "Sebastian, why are you home so late?" she mumbled sleepily.

"Why are you awake? I just finished up some business," he replied softly.

"You smell like smoke and booze," she scrunched her nose in disgust.

"I'll take a shower in a minute. Do you want some water?" he offered.

She let out a massive yawn and nodded.

He poured a glass and handed it to her.

She cradled the cup with both hands, sipping it obediently.

Halfway through, her eyes began to droop again.

He gently guided her back to her bedroom and tucked her in.

As she drifted off, she mumbled, "Sebastian... please don't break up with Lena, okay?"

He didn't answer.

She was already asleep, entirely unaware of the crushing weight of her request.

He took a quick shower in the guest bathroom before quietly slipping back into the master bedroom.

He knew Helena was a notoriously light sleeper.

He had been staying out late specifically to avoid sparking an argument with her.

He just needed the space to process his own chaotic emotions.

And she hadn't bothered to check on him once.

They existed in this bizarre, suffocating state of limbo, just waiting for the clock to run out.

The moment he slid into bed, Helena's eyes fluttered open.

She glanced at him, noting his damp hair.

He carried the faint, clean scent of body wash.

"Why are you awake?" he whispered. "Did I disturb you?"

His tone was perfectly casual, displaying no hint of the emotional warfare between them.

"No. Just drank too much water before bed. I need to use the restroom," she replied evenly.

He hummed in understanding.

She got up and walked to the attached bathroom.

He settled back against the pillows.

Since returning from the Everett estate, they hadn't actually slept in separate beds.

When she stepped back out and saw him lying there, she didn't utter a word of protest.

"I booked an appointment for my checkup tomorrow," he mentioned casually.
