He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 1004

Knowing she was leaving tomorrow seemed to make her stall even more.

They didn't actually leave the apartment until almost ten.

Helena wanted to pick out a nice gift for Claire Campbell.

She figured she should probably grab something for the rest of the elders while she was at it.

Since she knew exactly what she was looking for, the shopping trip was surprisingly efficient.

However, the reality of returning to Coralia had Skye clinging to her like a lifeline.

Helena spent the entire morning patiently soothing her.

"You can come visit anytime during your school breaks, sweetie. Plus, you have spring break coming up, right? I'll come see you in Coralia when I have time," she coaxed gently.

The little girl pouted, still visibly upset.

"You've been gone for so long. If you don't go back, your mom and dad are going to miss you terribly," Helena reasoned.

Skye knew she was right, so she just nodded gloomily.

"How about we get barbecue for lunch? You've been asking for it all week," Helena smoothly changed the subject.

Her eyes instantly lit up, and she gave an enthusiastic nod.

Then, she pointed toward the hallway. "I need to go to the restroom really quick."

"Okay," Helena agreed.

Skye turned and jogged toward the public stalls.

Helena knew the child had a bit of a stubborn streak.

When she was upset, she wouldn't necessarily throw a tantrum, but she would completely shut down and refuse to speak.

So she let the girl have her moment alone.

She needed to process the frustration of leaving on her own terms.

Helena stood by the storefront, waiting patiently.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated in her purse.

The caller ID flashed Sebastian's name.

She hesitated for a split second before answering.

"Where are you?" he asked, sounding completely normal.

"The mall," she replied indifferently.

She had explicitly told him she would be moving out tomorrow immediately after the airport drop-off.

So technically, they were still sharing his apartment for one final night.

"I'll come meet you guys. I just wrapped up my errands, and Kyle's eating lunch at school today," he offered smoothly.

He sounded exactly like a devoted husband checking in with his wife.
