He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 121

Silas Irwin didn't say much about the situation, quietly leading Helena Wallace into The Tea House nearby.

In a private room on the second floor, she saw Alistair Everett.

"Chief of Staff Everett," Helena greeted with a polite nod.

The elderly man before her had graying hair, yet he still emanated a commanding presence.

Helena didn't cower; she remained poised and completely unbothered.

"Sit. I'll only take a few minutes of your time," Alistair said curtly.

Helena sat down gracefully, her movements a bit slow due to her pregnancy.

As she settled into the chair, the curve of her stomach became obvious.

Alistair noticed immediately. "You're pregnant?"

As he spoke, his brows furrowed, as if he were trying to piece something together.

Helena could read his expression perfectly. "Yes, I'm expecting. But you can rest assured, Lance isn't the father. Lance and I are just friends and business partners. There is absolutely nothing romantic between us."

Her tone was completely candid, not showing a hint of evasion even while facing a man as powerful as Alistair.

This surprised him.

Looking at Helena, he found himself seeing her in a slightly different light.

"Do you know why I asked to see you, Ms. Wallace?" Alistair asked calmly.

"I do," Helena replied without hesitation.

Alistair nodded. He set down his teacup and looked at her intently.

"Since we're on the same page, I'll be blunt," Alistair said without missing a beat. "I don't care what kind of relationship you have with Lance. I want you to stay away from him. Whether you're partners or friends, I don't want you two associating anymore."

"..."

She was deeply grateful for Lance's help, so she refused to be selfish enough to drag him into her mess.

She steadied herself and looked Alistair in the eye. "Chief of Staff Everett, I'm very sorry for bringing trouble to your family. But please rest assured, I will not be with Lance. There is no future for us."

Her words were completely honest, lacking any hint of sarcasm, making her intentions crystal clear.

Alistair nodded. "Good."

He didn't say another word, simply standing up and leaving the room first.

It wasn't until he was out of the private room and settled into his car that Alistair turned to Silas.

"If it weren't for her marital status, I actually wouldn't mind that Helena girl," Alistair remarked casually.

But as the words left his mouth, his brows knit together slightly. "I don't know why, though. Looking at her... she seems so familiar. I just can't remember where I've seen her before."

"Perhaps you crossed paths at a banquet in the past, sir," Silas suggested, offering a logical explanation.
