Inside the massive estate—
Helena's weak pleas echoed hollowly through the empty halls.
Her face was entirely devoid of color, consumed by sheer terror.
She knew exactly what this bleeding meant.
Her fingers dug desperately into the edge of the second-floor banister.
She looked down at her phone. The call to Sebastian was still ringing, completely ignored.
She shifted her gaze toward the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Janetta was no longer outside.
A bitter laugh escaped her lips.
So, he hadn't been able to hold out after all, had he?
She had literally just mocked Janetta for her theatrics, and the next second, karma had come for her.
She closed her eyes, overwhelmed by a mix of devastation and profound grief.
But a mother's instinct demanded that she protect this baby.
They had shared a body for over six months.
She couldn't just give up.
The baby's heartbeat, the little kicks—they anchored Helena to life.
"Hold on, baby. Mommy won't let anything happen to you," Helena whispered to the empty room.
With trembling fingers, she dialed a familiar number.
Julian Campbell.
Almost the second it connected, Julian's voice came through. "Lena? Why are you calling me at this hour?"
His voice was a bit raspy, likely having just been woken up.
"Save me..." Helena choked out.
She desperately wanted to explain, but every ounce of her strength was gone.
Her stomach was in blinding agony.
The baby thrashed wildly inside her, as if crying out for help.
"Where are you?!" Julian demanded instantly.
"Home..." she managed to gasp.
"Hold on. I'll be there in fifteen minutes," Julian said sharply, entirely devoid of his usual playful tone.
The Campbell family also owned a property in Riverton.
Coincidentally, it was located in the same exclusive affluent neighborhood as the Hayes Estate.
Because of this, it would take Julian fifteen minutes at most to reach her.
Through the gaps in the banister, Helena saw Julian's figure sprinting inside.
She had reached the absolute limit of her endurance.
The pain felt like her body was being torn apart.
"Lena!" Julian practically flew up the stairs to her side.
Seeing the pool of blood surrounding her, his expression shifted to pure horror.
He didn't waste a second, scooping her fragile body into his arms. "I'm taking you to the hospital right now."
Helena looked up at him, her voice so faint it was barely a whisper. "Save..."
Before she could finish the sentence, her eyes rolled back, and she lost consciousness.
Julian sprinted out to his car, gently settling her inside.
He floored the gas pedal, tearing through the streets toward the hospital.
He kept one hand firmly wrapped around hers the entire drive.
"Don't worry. I'm right here. You're going to be okay." His steady, unwavering voice offered a powerful sense of security.
But Helena was already lost to the darkness.
Julian's expression was murderously dark, his grip on her hand never loosening.
Not until the car finally screeched to a halt outside the emergency room.
