He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 318

But every single trace that Helena Wallace had ever lived there was thoroughly eradicated.

It was as if she had never existed.

Helena walked out of the master bedroom, keeping her head down as she made her way toward the kitchen.

As she rounded the corner, she slammed right into Grace Dale.

Over the past seven years of marriage, her mother-in-law had been a constant source of psychological torment.

The sheer sight of the woman made her instinctively step back in fear.

Grace let out a vicious sneer and, without a second of hesitation, raised her hand and slapped Helena hard across the face.

This wasn't the first time Grace had hit her.

It was the older woman's favorite way to vent her frustrations.

Helena knew better than to dodge. If she dodged, the beating would only get worse.

And right now, she absolutely couldn't risk a struggle, not with the baby.

The sharp sting blossomed across her cheek, leaving her skin burning hot.

She instinctively reached up, cradling her bruised face.

"Ha! You're nothing but a filthy murderer, yet you still expect us to beg you to do your chores? Do you really think you're still the esteemed Mrs. Hayes?" Grace spat out, her tone dripping with venom.

"Do you think you're some kind of royalty? Think you're carrying the royal heir? Think this bastard in your belly will secure your place in this family?"

"Keep dreaming, you little bitch! What you did to Janetta's baby—I am never going to let that go."

Grace's voice grew darker, filled with pure malice.

"The minute that thing inside you is viable, I'll have the doctors cut it right out of you. And you? You're going straight to prison."

She took a menacing step closer, her words freezing the blood in Helena's veins.

"I'll make sure you wish you were dead behind those bars."

It was a death sentence.

The moment her baby was born would be the moment her true nightmare began.

Helena didn't say a word.

She had absolutely no power to fight back.

She couldn't even run away if she tried.

Because they had Wynn.

And she had absolutely no way to contact the outside world.

So all she could do was endure it.

"Get out of my sight!" Grace barked furiously.

Helena practically fled down the hall, slipping into the massive chef's kitchen.

She gripped the edge of the marble island, gasping for air, waiting for the panic attack to subside.

"Are you stalling on purpose? Why is it taking so long?" he demanded, his face tight with anger.

She didn't flinch. "It's ready."

"Then why the hell are you just standing there? Plate it and bring the soup out," he barked like she was a dog.

"Alright," she replied smoothly, void of emotion.

She carried the platter of greens out to the dining room.

Janetta and Grace were already seated at the massive round table.

The absolute disgust in Grace's eyes was impossible to miss.

Janetta, on the other hand, didn't say anything.

But out of the corner of her eye, Helena could see the malicious gleam in Janetta's smile.

She ignored them entirely.

She set the rice bowls down and went back to serve the soup.

"Jana, sweetheart, try a bite. If it tastes like garbage, I'll have the maids throw it out and make her start over," Grace smiled warmly at Janetta.

"Okay," Janetta replied sweetly.

But she just stared at the plates, making no move to pick up her silverware.

"What's wrong?" Sebastian asked, walking back into the dining room and taking his seat next to her.
