One second she was walking normally, and the next, she collapsed into a dead faint.
Sebastian reacted instantly, catching her limp body and carrying her straight to the car.
"To the hospital," he barked at the driver.
Without a second of hesitation, the driver slammed on the gas.
During the frantic ride, Sebastian called ahead to the medical team.
The Doctor was already waiting in the emergency bay.
Throughout the entire trip, Helena never regained consciousness; she just lay there, terrifyingly still.
Within minutes, the car screeched to a halt outside the ER.
She was rushed into an examination room, with Sebastian right on their heels.
"Has Mrs. Hayes been under severe psychological stress lately?" The Doctor asked with a heavy frown after the initial check-up.
"Yes," Sebastian admitted grimly.
The relentless barrage of tragedies had thoroughly broken her.
The accumulated grief was enough to crush anyone.
"She fainted from extreme emotional distress. When the mind hits its absolute limit, the body simply shuts down," The Doctor explained quickly. "Furthermore, Mrs. Hayes urgently needs The Therapist to step in."
The Doctor wasn't blind to the scandalous rumors surrounding their marriage.
Connecting the dots wasn't hard.
Helena's mental state was hanging by a thread.
That was exactly why he strongly recommended psychiatric intervention.
"Make the arrangements," Sebastian ordered smoothly.
"Understood," The Doctor nodded.
While they were talking, Helena slowly fluttered her eyes open.
Sebastian noticed immediately and rushed to her bedside.
She looked completely devoid of emotion.
She tried to sit up, her movements weak.
Sebastian adjusted the hospital bed so she could lean back comfortably.
Her hollow gaze drifted to his face. "I want to go home."
Sebastian frowned.
But The Doctor chimed in, "Going home is a good idea. The environment there is much better for recovery than a sterile ward. We can schedule home visits."
Every agonizing memory of the past month had taken place within hospital walls.
It was perfectly natural for her to despise the place.
Returning to a familiar setting was undoubtedly the safer option.
