Hearing Janetta's name, a faint, startling smile touched Helena's lips.
"I wish them a long and happy life together." She even offered them a blessing.
Yet her voice was so devoid of emotion, it sounded more like a cold dismissal.
The reporter immediately caught the underlying chill and pressed harder. "Helena, are you secretly bitter about this?"
Her gaze snapped directly to the journalist.
The reporter actually swallowed hard, intimidated.
Then, her calm, measured voice cut through the noise: "I am not bitter. For me, this is liberation."
Her words hung heavily in the air, loaded with unspoken implications.
The reporters scrambled to ask more questions.
But Sebastian wasn't about to give them the chance. He shoved his way to the front.
He grabbed Helena's arm, aggressively pulling her toward the waiting car.
The bodyguards instantly formed a human wall, blocking the flashing cameras from getting any closer.
"Get in the car," Sebastian ordered, his voice dangerously low.
Helena didn't say a word; she simply wrenched her arm out of his iron grip.
Her expression remained completely impassive.
Staring at his empty hand, Sebastian felt a surge of violent irritation.
The tension between them skyrocketed instantly.
"Mr. Hayes, this is where we part ways. I don't need a ride," she said flatly, making it abundantly clear she wanted nothing more to do with him.
Sebastian's gaze turned impossibly somber.
Though the bodyguards held the press back, it didn't stop them from continuously recording and snapping photos.
Having delivered her final word, Helena had no intention of sticking around.
She spun on her heel, ready to walk away.
At that exact moment, a sleek black sports car roared down the street and violently swerved to the curb.
The screech of burning rubber pierced the air.
Instantly, every single pair of eyes snapped toward the vehicle.
Once the sports car came to a smooth halt, the door swung open, and Julian Campbell stepped out wearing a pair of jeans, a crisp white button-down, and dark sunglasses.
He slipped the shades off his face the second his boots hit the pavement, striding purposefully straight toward Helena.
Even she was caught off guard, entirely shocked to see him there.
