Julian's plan was even simpler.
He was going to tell her that Hope was still alive.
He needed her to recant her confession.
And he knew Sebastian wouldn't use his power to make things harder for her in this situation.
The officer looked at Julian and sighed. "I'll go in and ask one more time. She might be a suspect, but she still has rights. If she says no, we can't force her."
Truthfully, the officers had dealt with plenty of suspects.
They could see how fragile Helena's mental state was.
They were terrified of pushing her too far, afraid she might try to end her life right there in the precinct.
If that happened, heads would roll.
"Thank you," Julian nodded.
Sebastian looked at Julian with an unreadable expression but stayed quiet.
The officer turned and walked back into the interrogation area.
Helena sat rigidly in her chair, her empty eyes fixed on the man in uniform.
"I don't want to see anyone. No one," she repeated in a flat, monotone voice.
The officer had heard this same line over and over.
Sebastian had demanded to see her.
She had rejected him more times than anyone could count.
The same went for Julian.
She was done with all of it.
Helena wasn't stupid; she noticed the police were treating her very differently this time.
The moment she tried to confess, they immediately changed the subject and stopped the recording.
They were practically handing her loopholes to escape.
But she remained stubbornly resolute.
So when the officer appeared again, she delivered her usual, emotionless rejection.
The police felt helpless, but the officer relayed Julian's message word for word.
"Mr. Campbell said he has something incredibly important to tell you," the officer finished.
Helena didn't even blink. "I don't want to see anyone."
