She spoke calmly, but the mockery in her eyes was unmistakable. "In our seven years of marriage, Janetta has used this exact same trick to drag you away for seven years. Sebastian, since I am still Mrs. Hayes, I have every right to stop her from destroying my marriage, don't I?"
Sebastian fell silent for a moment, simply staring at Helena.
Under that heavy gaze, she couldn't read his intentions.
She didn't know if it was the weight of their seven years together or something else entirely.
For a split second, she actually thought he might feel a pang of guilt.
After all, how many seven years did a person get in one lifetime?
But as always, Sebastian's cruelty was the only thing etched into her soul.
He viciously yanked her hand away.
Helena stumbled and collapsed onto the floor.
She watched as he glared down at her with a chilling sneer. "Are you out of your mind? Do you just get off on comparing yourself to Janetta? Do you think you're even worthy? Let me tell you, you don't even compare to a fraction of her!"
He continued to tower over her, his stance dominating.
The hard fall sent a sudden, agonizing cramp through Helena's already aching stomach.
The pain crashed over her, so intense it stole the breath from her lungs.
Yet Sebastian showed no mercy.
As she struggled to push herself up, his foot suddenly clamped down on her hand, pinning it to the floor.
A blinding agony flared through her bones, and tears instantly spilled from her eyes.
Sebastian's voice slashed through the air, sharper than a blade.
"Helena, do not ever let me hear you say something like that again. Pulling stunts like this will only make you look more pathetic. Do you hear me?" he snarled.
Without another glance in her direction, he turned on his heel and strode out of the apartment.
The door slammed shut with a deafening crash.
Helena was drenched in a cold sweat.
She looked down and realized she was spotting heavily, the blood pooling beneath her.
Helena was his woman. Until he was tired of her, he would absolutely never allow another man to covet her.
A nobody like Lance meant absolutely nothing to him.
His eyes darkened, gleaming with a calculated ruthlessness.
He knew perfectly well that no matter how much Helena fought back, it would all be in vain.
Suppressing his chaotic emotions, Sebastian quickly stepped out of the car.
Just as Janetta had warned, the area around her apartment complex was swarming with reporters.
The moment they spotted him, they swarmed like vultures. "Mr. Hayes, are you secretly married?"
"Mr. Hayes, is the child Ms. Ramirez is carrying yours? Is she the other woman?"
"Mr. Hayes, the woman you visited earlier, is she Mrs. Hayes?"
...
The journalists hurled their piercing questions at him, one after another.
