He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 636

Sebastian didn't put Skye down until he gently laid her on the mattress.

Helena watched the entire exchange in silence before turning to Sebastian.

"I'll stay with her," she said softly. "She can't sleep alone in a strange place. She'll wake up terrified, and it's a huge hassle to get her back down."

Her tone was completely level.

But it wasn't a lie.

If Skye wasn't in her own bed, the slightest noise would wake her in a panic.

And once she was awake, she was notoriously difficult to soothe.

Coupled with her fragile health, it was a recipe for disaster.

So Helena absolutely wasn't making it up just to avoid him.

Sebastian held her gaze. "Alright. Let me know if you need anything."

"I will," she nodded.

Yet Sebastian didn't leave immediately. He simply stood there, watching her intently.

Helena began to feel unnerved under his piercing stare.

But outwardly, she kept her expression perfectly composed.

Sebastian suddenly let out a low chuckle, leaning in close. "Looks like you got lucky and escaped this time, hm?"

Helena didn't say a word.

Before she could formulate a retort, Sebastian's lips crashed down onto hers.

The kiss was fatally gentle.

Helena felt that he was completely different from the man she used to know.

Now, he seemed intent on seducing her, wrapping her in an intoxicating spell.

It was just a matter of who would fall into the other's trap first.

Helena didn't pull away, but she didn't kiss him back either. She remained entirely impassive.

Sebastian kept it brief, stepping back before things escalated.

"Get some rest," he murmured, his voice returning to its usual cool cadence.

With that, he turned and left the room.

The bedroom door clicked shut behind him.

Only then did Helena let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding.

Skye was sleeping like the dead, entirely oblivious to the tension that had just filled the room.

She instinctively rolled over, clinging to Helena's side.
