He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 637

The next morning.

Helena woke up feeling a bit groggy.

But it only took a second for the memories of the previous day to flood back.

Skye, Sebastian... fragments of the chaotic evening flashed through her mind.

She immediately glanced at the space beside her. It was completely empty. Skye was gone.

Panic seized her. She threw off the covers and bolted up, ready to search the house.

Just then, the bedroom door swung open.

Skye's adorable little head popped in. "Lena, you're awake!"

Seeing her, Helena finally let out a massive breath. "When did you get up?"

"A little after six! I couldn't sleep anymore, so I got up. Then Sebastian woke up and played with me!" Skye casually referred to him by his full name, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"The toys Sebastian bought yesterday were actually waiting for me when I woke up! It was like magic! What time did they get delivered? Oh, and the breakfast he made was super yummy. It was just as good as Julian's! I really liked it." Mentioning how much she liked it made Skye blush a little.

Helena simply listened.

It was jarring just how naturally Skye tossed Sebastian's name around.

Once Skye finished her excited rambling, Helena finally interjected. "Are you just calling him by his full name?"

"Well, he said calling him 'Mister' made him feel old! But he is old! And I didn't want to call him my brother, so I just used his name! He didn't seem to mind," Skye huffed proudly.

Helena took it all in.

She thought back to the police station yesterday, how Sebastian had held Skye's hand the entire time they left.

Skye hadn't resisted at all.

And Helena knew better than anyone that Skye wasn't usually so quick to warm up to strangers.

Yet, with Sebastian, from the moment they met until now, she had accepted him with open arms.

Helena recognized the signs. This was what it looked like when Skye genuinely liked someone.

"What's wrong, Lena? If you don't want me to call him that, I'll stop," Skye offered obediently.

Because Helena had already noticed him and looked his way.

"You're up?" Sebastian asked casually. "Get dressed and come eat. Aren't you heading to the set today? I'll drop you off later. If bringing Skye is too much of a hassle, you can leave her with me. She and Kyle already get along."

"It's not a hassle," Helena rejected his offer instantly. "I'll take her with me."

There was absolutely no way she was leaving Skye alone with him.

It was far too risky.

Sebastian studied her for a moment but didn't push the issue.

Skye was a Campbell, after all. It really wasn't his place to interfere.

Given Helena's position, she would never just hand the kid over to him anyway.

"Fine," he agreed.

Helena got out of bed to get ready.
