Helena Wallace listened from the side, not interrupting them.
It wasn't until Julian Campbell finished eating with Skye Campbell and coaxed the little girl to sleep,
that he emerged from the adjoining bedroom and looked at Helena.
She had already stood up, walking quietly toward him.
"Let's go eat. Skye said you barely touched your food. Riverton is your turf, you're taking me out," Julian said, looking down at her.
His voice was calm, devoid of much emotion, and he didn't even bring up Sebastian Hayes.
But Helena knew better. How could Julian not know?
"What do you want to eat?" she asked.
"Anything. I'm not picky," he replied faintly.
"How about some Lamb Hot Pot?" Helena asked. "I know a place in a small alley nearby that makes a great one. They specialize in late-night meals."
"Sounds good," Julian nodded. "Let me change."
"Oh, alright," Helena said, making no move to stop him.
Julian had arrived wearing a suit. Going to a street stall looking like that would instantly draw unwanted attention.
There was no need for that; keeping a low profile was best.
However, he didn't head to the dressing room to change.
He naturally opened his suitcase right there in the living room, casually picked out some casual clothes, and started changing right in front of her.
Helena didn't say anything.
She just watched quietly.
Julian's jeans hung loosely low on his hips.
He pulled a t-shirt over his head.
"Hand me my watch," Julian said, suddenly looking at her.
"Okay," Helena replied.
She walked over to the suitcase and quickly located the watch.
After all, over the years, whenever she went on business trips, it was actually Julian who packed her bags.
Because she didn't know how to explain it.
But she knew with absolute certainty that he understood exactly why she was apologizing.
Caught in the tension, she stood there passively.
His gaze remained fixed on her.
This time, Julian broke the silence first.
"Lena, if you truly feel sorry, then you'll come back to Coralia with me after the film ceremony next Monday." Surprisingly, he gave her no room to evade.
His words only made her grow quieter.
Undeterred, Julian continued, "If you want to get back at Janetta Ramirez, Charlotte Morgan can handle it. You know very well that your involvement isn't necessary. Charlotte can dig up everything from the past, including Janetta's attempted murder and all the terrible things she did to you and Skye. She wouldn't be able to escape. Everything you're doing right now is nothing more than testing Sebastian, trying to make it seem like a natural progression, wanting to see Janetta crash down from her pedestal."
Julian knew Helena inside out; naturally, he could read her intentions like an open book.
Helena couldn't formulate a rebuttal.
His voice cut through again. "Furthermore, as for Sebastian... I know what you're thinking there, too. I understand your mindset. I know the sheer satisfaction you'd feel when he realizes you are the real Helena Wallace, when The Hayes Corporation is dragged through the mud by IGM. But have you ever considered one crucial issue?"
