The reporters' questions were ruthless, aimed squarely at dissecting Sebastian and Janetta's relationship.
Sebastian, wearing dark sunglasses and with his dress shirt sleeves casually rolled up to his forearms, leveled a frigid stare at the press.
Just when everyone assumed he would ignore them, he surprisingly spoke up.
"Ms. Ramirez is a celebrated actress and a long-time partner of the Hayes Group. I suggest you refrain from spreading baseless rumors that could cause trouble for my family," he warned, his gaze sweeping over the crowd.
He said it to protect Janetta's image. However, he carefully avoided explicitly denying that she was a homewrecker, nor did he confirm his own marital status. He projected an aura of a man who simply refused to entertain the gossip.
The reporters knew better than to push their luck. The bodyguards quickly stepped in, creating a barricade.
Sebastian's car sped off into the city.
Two blocks away, he pulled into an underground parking garage. Right on cue, Janetta's discreet van parked nearby. She slipped out and quietly got into the passenger seat of his Maybach.
She had already seen the live stream of his interaction with the press, so the moment she buckled in, she started apologizing.
Around him, she was always eager to shoulder the blame. It was a calculated move designed to make him feel protective and guilty.
"Stop overthinking. This has nothing to do with you, and you have nothing to apologize for," Sebastian said firmly.
He shifted gears and steered the car out of the garage. As they merged onto the main avenue, he reached over and took her hand.
"Jana, I know you want official status," he said, cutting straight to the point.
Janetta gasped softly, a little startled. "Sebastian, no..."
Even though it was exactly what she wanted, she couldn't afford to sound greedy in front of him.
"Once I handle the situation with Helena, I'll give you proper status," he promised.
