Helena had never been like this; she would always just wait obediently for his return at The Hayes Estate.
She wouldn't resist, wouldn't argue, remaining so quiet it was as if she hardly existed.
Even when Sebastian had gotten together with Janetta.
Helena simply asked for a divorce and quietly walked away.
Ultimately, he was the one who couldn't let go.
He was the one being driven slowly out of his mind.
It was just as Beau Sterling had said—people develop feelings over time.
Just like Beau and Rory.
Beau had hated Rory to his core.
But so what?
When Rory truly vanished without a trace...
Beau wanted nothing more than to tear the earth apart to find her, dead or alive.
It was just too late.
These thoughts made Sebastian's gaze turn somber as he forcefully pulled Janetta away.
Caught off guard, Janetta stumbled slightly.
She looked at him in frustration. "Sebastian, we're married! What's wrong with this?"
"We're in a hospital," Sebastian replied coldly. "Besides, Kyle is resting right inside."
"Even if we weren't in a hospital, you'd still reject me, wouldn't you!" Janetta accused him.
She was Mrs. Hayes, but this reality was completely different from what she had envisioned for the role.
She had the glamour, but she had lost all control over Sebastian.
The position of Mrs. Hayes was beginning to feel precarious.
Coupled with everything that had happened recently, Janetta's composure finally snapped.
She glared at him, losing control. "Sebastian, are you still thinking about Helena? Don't forget, this Helena isn't her. She died a long time ago. The Helena in front of you is Julian Campbell's wife."
It was a hysterical breakdown, completely disregarding the fact that Kyle was still resting in the ward.
